I'm in the process of repainting and restoring my hardtop. I noticed this sealant in the drip rails. It doesn't seem to be applied uniformly.
1. Is the recommendation to remove it and reseal with something else? If so, what sealant do you use.
2. Do you fill in the drip rail completely with the sealant, removing the tendency for it to catch water?
3. Any preferences on headliners?

Remove all of the old sealant.

I use a sealant from Lord/Fusor which the local Napa carries. It's a two part application like panel adhesive which requires a special caulking gun. The gun itself was around a hundred dollars 10 years ago,

Thanks.

Do you think I could get similar results with Dynatron 550? Seems like a much more modest pricing option and uses a regular caulk gun.

I cut, gouged and wire-wheeled all of the old sealer out of my gutter when I rebuilt my top. Then I filled it with modern panel adhesive and brought it to a crown so water couldn't collect in there anymore.

One thing lead to another. I flipped my top over and fabricated some new ribs for the inside, added insulation, made a new headliner, ect. These little repair job can take on a life of their own, LOL.

Here's what I did to my top http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=248033
