Awesome! I should've worded that better - I wonder when the site had the most threads started/month or most posts/month, etc. Or is that down there in the stats at the bottom too and I'm just not seeing it :).

Tasty Geezer Bronco Build :)

I used to be a lot more active as well and definitely have noticed the decline when I have time to jump on. After years of tinkering with my bronco and learning as much as I could from all the gurus on this site, 5.5 years ago I started my very own frame off...I would not have had the courage and knowledge without CB.

I always dreamed of having a build thread on here. When I started restoring my Bronco, I had 2 young kids. I now have 4 kids, so if I have a single free moment I'm in the garage and not online! Most answers have been answered, so when I do need something I just search vs. post.

FB Bronco sites are lame and not the typical Bronco owner that makes it a brotherhood...

Hear are a few pics of my build for the read :)

My theories are:

-the true Bronco fans that grew up with these rigs are dying.

I should also add, prices. The average fan is getting priced out.

Yup, guys who built the rigs were hands on, get-r-down the road types with mods being look-at-what-I-sourced-from-the-local-yard...not look at the 30K drivetrain I just installed after just spending 30K on the rig itself. I daily drove one in the 90's. I paid 500 for it, nice expensive ones were 2500. Those days are over.

Fanboi syndrome:

I'm not a coyote fan... I don't care for the width of it nor the weird blatty sound it makes...it's Ford's version of a Honda v8. Sadly, an LS looks right at home in a Bronco, but it's shunned. I prefer pushrods and Ford abandoned them. Unsure of Godzilla will fit under the hood or not, but that's more my style of power delivery for a 4x4 that handles like a Radio Flyer wagon. Maybe when those are placed under the hood of a Bronco, I'll be back with more interest.

Just my 02.

I think this is really close. You have those of us who have been at it awhile, been greasy and kind of know what is going on, and then you have the 30K crowd-which isn't always a bad thing. However, the two different groups of people have really different needs. I've noticed the types of questions being asked have changed a lot.

The folks that are building a rig from a junker etc. are likely not as active because it is hard to even find a good builder that isn't 10K. If I were just starting today and didn't already own a couple, I would likely build something else just due to costs.

I've built a lot of trucks over the years and Broncos aren't that bad once you own them and just want to do a modest build. But the upfront cost is high just to buy one....

Hi Guys,

I hate to say it but "No Hay" might be on to something. I've known a few older Bronco guys who have passed away over the years. Plus many of us guys who have been on here a long time have accomplished most of what they want or know how to complete it.

Also I think it's true, many new to the hobby would prefer to post photos then work on their Broncos themselves.

Does it seem like some of the Bronco re-sellers might be scooping up a lot of the affordable ones to restore and flip too??? Some of the Instagram/internet re-sellers are asking crazy prices for our old ponies all done up.

PS "Tasty Geezer," nice work! If only one day I have the time, mula and location to do that kind of work on my 66... and nice fuel door mod!
