Header identification and more exhaust questions.

Hello, I am slowly going thru a recently purchased 1974 U15. Basically a stock truck. Cleaning up the engine compartment and will have to address exhaust shortly. Currently has stock manifolds going into what looks like to me a Stroppe dual exhaust system which is beat up. Also, the stock cast iron manifolds are pretty ugly looking from age and one of them has had a crack repair. Engine is stock except for an Edelbrock F4B intake with what looks like a 650 Holley. I have no intention of doing any serious off roading once I get this truck on the road. I would just like to get it running reliably, have it look good and enjoy driving it. That said, when purchased I was given a set of new, old stock long headers that probably were given to the previous owner. I am pretty sure the are the correct application and Im trying to identify the brand. There are no identification numbers on them I can find. I also would like to get a pre-fab exhaust system that would work with these headers and avoid the "custom" exhaust route if possible. If possible I would like to clean these up and avoid buying all new manifolds/headers/exhaust system. I do not have an unlimited budget, but I also realize some things are unavoidable. Any advice is welcomed, including proper bolts, gaskets, etc to use.

Can't see 'em until I sign in. Does that mean they're not public? Don't feel like going through the rigamarole of signing in at the moment, but will probably take the time later because I'm curious!

But speaking generically, you probably won't find an off-the-shelf system made for long tube headers for a Bronco. Even if made by the same company!
That said, Duff and BC have offerings I believe. You can check out their headers (Duff has longs, but BC only has shorties) and exhaust and see if they're made for each other.
The BC will not be made for long tubes, so that rules them out for now.
The custom route is often the only way, due to other modifications. Do you know what all has been done to your Bronco? Bigger gas tanks? Custom skid plates? Custom shock mounts? Transmission swap?
Sounds relatively stock from your description, but all of the above are common reasons for custom exhaust routing.

Good luck.

No real Mods to speak of. It does have a PTO driven Koenig winch that can be seen in my profile pic and a xfer case skid plate that looks homemade to me.

Thanks, FM

Both of which are potential deal-breakers when it comes to a pre-made exhaust kit.
In the old days (when labor wasn't the largest component of a sale!) a shop-built system was often the same, or sometimes even less expensive than a store bought setup.
Granted, nowadays it's likely more expensive, but I wonder by how much? What are people charging now? About $500 to $600 or so to have a custom one bent and welded?
What's a store-bought system going for? Well, not a high-end setup like Borla or similar, but just Bronco stuff.

Anyway, hopefully someone other than me pops in with some actual real world info for you. Hopefully something is out there.
But if you're not interested (or able?) to modify an off-the-shelf unit to work, you would be better served by letting the shop do it. Although, I guess if you bring them a box of parts, a shop can still do the install and any custom modifications needed to make it fit.

Hope such a beast exists.

That PTO winch is likely to an issue. I don't know any header maker that took that into account.

I had really good luck with the Duff headers. The only ones I had issues with were Hookers.
Headman worked for me 30 years ago as well.

Thanks, I will most likely have to temp bolt up the right header I have to see where it dumps out in relation to the PTO drive shaft. If someone could identify them, it would be helpful to know what brand headers I already have. I have a link in my original post with pictures. Members need to sign in to see the pics.

If anyone knows of where to get a new set of original style cast exhaust manifolds at a reasonable price I would skip the headers. The only place I see them is Tom's Offroad. FM

Except for the exhaust port shape, I would think they are Hooker headers.

Install the Manifolds or Headers of your choice. I like the Hooker 3/4 length and the WH Shorty Headers. Then go to a good exhaust shop to route the exhaust for you so you know for sure the exhaust fits your Bronco.

A 2-into-1 system has always been a good choice. Two 2-2 1/4" Pipes into One Muffler and a 2 1/2" outlet at the stock location. This is plenty of exhaust for a stock 302.

I figured I had nothing to lose by trying to fit one of headers,(long), I currently have, remember they have not been identified. Tried sliding the right one from the top since it was the most open. Looks like it didn't want to get past the bellhousing without jacking the engine up? Should I expect to do that if I go with long headers?

You may have to install it from the bottom. I have zero idea what brand long tube headers I have but they put one in from the top and the other from underneath.

Thanks all for the input. I have ordered new repop exhaust manifolds from Tom's. I will decided on the exhaust when the time comes. Other issues I need to pick off first, FM
