I'm putting together a new motor for my '76 and it's painfully obvious that I'm going to be breaking parts when I get this thing running. I'm putting in a 393 stroker with aluminum top end. What upgrades should I plan for?
Here's what I have:
Dana 44 front - open
Big bearing 9" rear with 31 spline shafts and a full spool
NP435
Dana 20 - I don't know if the PO upgraded the output shaft or not
Old, sloppy, worn out driveshafts
36x12.50x15 TSLs
It's also got decent brakes and power steering.
I'm going to put in a new Centerforce clutch when I drop in the motor.
The Bronco will never see any rock crawling, just mud bogging, trail riding and a few trips to the corner store.
I've got to replace the driveshafts soon. The splines are worn out. Is there an upgrade here that needs to be made?
