Hi All,
I am trying to sort out what in the world the previous owner has jerry rigged here. I don’t think it’s correct... as it just does not fit or work correctly.

The only 2 parts that appear to be correct
By my research so far is the actual kick down rod and the neutral safety switch. The small lever attached to the kick down rod that goes to the trans and the shifter bracket don’t seem right... don’t fit right.

Can anyone shed light on this for me? It’s a Winters shifter with the cable coming from behind the trans. It seems like when the neutral
Safety switch is installed... There isn't much shaft left to mount a shift bracket... let alone the one I have... then it sticks out so far it binds the kick doen bracket unless you leave it intentionally loose.

I would love to upload a photo of what I have going on... but cannot figure out how to do that.

It's been a while since I've had a C4 with the winters shifter but I am pretty sure that you lose the factory neutral safety/reverse light switch. I remember that the cable bracket on the pan and the front driveshaft had clearance issues as well and I ended up building a bracket to hold the cable.

When I did my recent C6 swap with tbe winters shifter it was going to have the same problems, I ended up welding a tab on the factory shift arm in the same position that the winters arm would be and then I reconfigured the shifter so it moved the cable opposite of factory and flipped the shift shaft and built a bracket so the cable is well above the driveshaft.

By adding a tab to the stock shift arm I was able to keep a factory neutral safety/reverse light switch.

For a small annual fee you get to post pics. Helps pay for storage I'm sure and all the work that goes with keeping the site going. $12 I think???

That is correct - there's not enough room on the shaft for both the neutral safety/reverse light switch and the shifter bracket. If you want either of those items, Winters now sells a bracket with a switch on it for them.

I used the Winter's bracket and switch for neutral safety and backup light and a cable off the stock kickdown lever. No stock switch.
Sorry no pictures I could dig up right now. You will need to make some welded up brackets for a functional kickdown in my experience.

Yes you have to lose the stock neutral safety and back up light switch.
Here's a couple pictures of the switches that go into the Winters shifter.
