What RPM is recommended for a stock 302 running the holley sniper? I have it set about 900 now- too high? 1974 w/ manual trans if that matters

Stock everything else? If it's still running well (no valvetrain or other old-age issues in other words) you can go as low as 600-650 no problem. A pretty typical rpm might be slightly higher though, at between 700 and 750 rpm.
Since it's just knobs, play with it and find out where it's happiest.

If you still have the emissions sticker on the valve cover it lists the idle RPM. You should still be able to get that RPM even with the Sniper.
