Since I am redoing my hood, I need new hood pins. the old ones were just cheapies that the scuff plate was about like tin foil lol. I see summit has some with the twist type lock, not sure if I would trust them or not. so what are you all using

I had the cheap locking pins on the 66 for a while. They were a pita. Occasionally the vibration would unlock em. Another thing if they started to unlock you cant get the key in to lock or unlock em. With the locks it was always on my mind what if there's an engine fire or other emergency under the hood. Now I just run standard pins. I have the nice urethane ones wh sells on the shelf.

These are probably my all-time favorite, as my kids had a habit of dematerializing my cotter pins. I'll post some pictures later on.

X2. I have these on my 78 Bronco - minus the locking feature. They work great and look awesome. Only issue is they are a bit harder to install because of the odd shaped hole you need to cut. But well worth the extra effort.

Yup they come in colors. My pic missed the detail that is no bracket is required. The pin bolts directly to the core.

You'll be much happier if you get in the habit of putting the clips OVER the pins when the hood is raised so it will be VERY hard for you to not notice that the hood isn't all the way down.

There are too many stories of hoods blowing up and co$ting ya...

I put the clips back into the holes in the pins as I'm raising the hood.
