Just finishing up an aaw re-wire on my 70 wagon and had everything except the horn (didn't have one). So I put an aftermarket horn in today and it worked ok with the key off. So when I went to start the truck the horn went off and I had to disconnect the wire at the horn.
I reached up under the dash to trace the ground t the relay and the relay was hot. Not warm but hot.
I'm thinking this is a bad relay even though it's new.
Any ideas??

Thanks!

The AAW harness has the relay in the harness so the relay just plugs into one of the branches behind the dash.

problem solved

OK so I spent today chasing this down only to find out that the copper disk that the horn contacts ride on was making contact with the steering wheel itself. I noticed this while pulling the wheel on and off and hearing the relay clicking without the horn button even attached. The copper contact was touching the wheel and the wheel was grounding out on the steering column. It didn't take much to pop the copper contact off the back of the wheel and used a dremmel to make the hole in the contact a little bigger so it didn't rest up against the wheel. So far so good.
I did expect better quality control from Lecarra but now a days I should know better. Oh well it seems to working now.
Just wanted to post the outcome in case someone else may have this issue.
Good times!
