Manual states after install, Final end play should be 0.001 to 0.010" ...
Is that how much the rotor can "slide" in and out on the spindle???
How done?
Thanks

Rotor runout is that what your referring to? if so then with a dial indicator ..

End play are you in the process of adjusting the front hub bearings and your manuel is giving you a final end play spec after you fallow the proceddure by the book?

The end play sounds more like for adjusting the wheel bearings. There's no adjustment between the hub and the rotor.
You would need a dial indicator to be able to check it. I think most of us just do it the old school way of first torquing to seat the bearings, then backing the nut off, then go forward again just past hand tight making sure the nut is tight with no perceivable wobble in the wheel and then backing the nut off to the first slot to align with the lock washer.

the correct method is to leave the nut backed off the 90 degrees. At that point you must ignore the excessive play and set the lock ring and torque the outer nut. Once torqued, the end play is reduced back down to where it is supposed to be.
I know a lot have done it like you are describing, but by the book the adjusting nut is left loose. No re-tightening involved before torquing the outer nut.

And yes correct about the dial-indicator and probably a magnetic base if you don't have another method of attachment.
there is another thread just from the last few days where a member has just set his and is checking the end play. Check it out.
We should have asked him for pics of how he's doing it!

After you've done a few, you can tell how much play is left by feel. It might not be precise, but it's pretty darn close!
