My first one I got in '84 and used it as a daily driver. Since then I've had about a half dozen or so over the years. My last, I've been working on for over a year. But, I know I will always be working on it for many more.

Hmmm thats a tricky question. I bought my Bronco at age 17 in High School, now I am 25 with a BS and MS degree in engineering, a wife, and a 5 mo baby.

I haven't worked on my Bronco in nearly a year since I graduated, moved, started a new job, bought a house, and had a baby.:eek::eek:

I hope after July 4th I should have all major yard work, house work, and honey-do lists complete and I can again start working on my truck.

Attached is a picture showing how far I got filling in all the frame holes and making it rust free. The blue color is a Pint of Rustoleum I had floating around with the intent of putting some sort of bed liner on it when completely finished.

Finally got a 77' pile o' parts. slapped it together and drive it now. Got it in 02'. One day it will get attention.

I bought mine Christmas eve 1978 it was a 1974 with 10,000 miles on it, the next week it started by cutting for flairs. From then its been a running project and has not been non-op for more than 2 weeks until March this year when I decided to do a 30 day paint job, so far its been close to 90 days apart with an estimate of another month or two to go. Thats Bronco time I guess. It hurt to take an old friend apart after all these years but I guess it deserves a shiney new coat. Weird to take off stuff that I put on 30 years ago. It seem it was easier to do this work back then.

Whoa, back it up there Bud!

Well....... my kids are 15 and 13. Before I traded it off it was a project 13 years strong. :)
So....... add 13 years to yours Freakster!!

No way! If i added 13 years to my build I would have to give it up! %)

Since I read some of these guys have been at it ALOT longer than I have, I am much happier with the 3 year time line I have going. ;D

Bought it in March 1984. Been working on it off an on ever since. Drove it for awhile, then it sat for a few years. Started working on it again last year. Hope to have it roadworthy again soon. I only work on it when I'm in the mood (and have the time). When it gets to be a chore I leave it alone.

Bought my 73 in 1990 for $200 & drove it home. That was the last time it saw the pavement. Started on a re-build but ran short on time and money (college) so I gave it to my dad. He bought a fiberglass tub and had the motor rebuilt by a trusted friend & then lost interest. About 6 years ago he was moving and was going to sell so I gave him what he had in it and parked it in my garage. Had to finish the resto on my Harley so it sat for a while.

I got serious about it last summer and it's now only weeks away from paint. Started the motor over the winter 20 years after the re-build and with the new wiring, etc. it runs like a champ. Hope to have it on the road by the end of July, that will make it a 21 year restoration.

Tomorrow will be exactly 4.5 years. On the cusp of finishing. I did go 55 weeks at one point not touching it.

It seems like I have been working on my Bronco forever. Just wondering how long it took (or has taken) to build your Bronco.

According to my receipts I rebuilt my front axle in April of 2008. So I guess that’s when I first started building. I don’t even have a rolling chassis yet….
I am hoping that someone will pipe up and say they are slower than I am lol! ;D

Its ok honey... You take as long as you need. Just remember my car is next! %)

I put my 74 together from 1 rusted and 2 wrecked broncos in 1992 drove it till 2005. Then I took it a part for a waterpump leak and some rust repairs, that turned into a 6 year and counting frame off resto. Are they ever done?

Your Bronco may not be done but I wish mine was as far along as yours is!
