I need help fixing my window!

So, my drivers side window is broken. If I roll it down too far, the glass falls inside the door. I checked it out, and there isnt any sort of channel that the glass sits on. It is resting on the circular nub on the regulator.

I bought a new track - but do I need a channel, too?

Is there a place where I can see a diagram on how the whole mechanism works and fits together?

try this. it shows the glass, channel the glass is mounted on and the regulator. It may be a good idea to replace the regulator bushing too if yours is broken or worn.

Where is the track in that picture? I'm not sure I understand why I even need the track now....

the track is what's needed for the channle to slide on... i believe.

do you mean the side tracks? I think they come in the anti rattle kit.

Yes, I bought that part and a regulator.

It was later that I saw the illustration with the channel...

Can anyone please tell me the difference between the channel and the track?

...and do I need both of them?

I think the tracks are the pieces on the inside of door that the glass slides up and down in. It usually has antirattle stuff in it. The channel is glued to the bottom of the glass. The regulator is attached to it with the plastic bushing that slides along the channel when you roll the window up or down.

That's funny, I just fixed mine this morning. If you need some help send me a pm. I could probably help you tomorrow if you have the all the right parts. I think i have an extra bushing as well.

Does anyone know who might carry the door bushings without having to order them? NAPA, etc?
I need 4 and I am just trying to get them quickly without ordering...

looking at the new LMC catalog those bushings started in 53 to 60 trucks with the same part number. In 61 the part number changed. I would think you might be able to find at a parts house. I haven't ever looked for one though.

Thanks guys. I am going to give it a shot tomorrow. I have a part rattling around in the bottom of my door, and it may be the channel. I bought a new track and bushing, so Ill see what I can do.

Window is fixed.

The tracks runs vertically along the window, keeping it in line.

The glass sits in the channel and has an indented piece of metal attached to its bottom.

The round bushing fits on the nub of the regulator, and rolls inside the metal attachment of the channel. It reminds me of a train and track - but the channel is semi-enclosed so the bushing wont pop out.

Thanks for all the help guys. It just ended up that I took the door apart and figured it out from looking at it.
