Ididit C4 linkage questions

Good evening!

I installed my new Ididit column earlier today without too much issue, but now I’m running some challenges with the cable,shifter..

Setup:
ididit tilt column with built-in shifter for c4
c4 trans
Ididit cable linkage kit

I followed the instructions and, if I’m understanding correctly, the shifter arm faces the driver side inner wheel well. I drilled and trimmed the shifter arm and mocked up the brackets.

I’m finding the wheel well interferes with the bracket placement and cable routing. This kit was expensive and all other parts were well designed but this seems like a one-size fits most kit and isn’t going to work on my truck unless I cut and clearance the wheel well.

Has anyone used this kit successfully? What am I doing wrong?

Can I use stock linkage with the Ididit column? That may be a lot easier!
