I have an 86, 5.0 in my 73. I finally realized I have an ignition problem by reading on this thread. I was not getting any fire at the start position but had spark at run. One of the threads suggested to unplug the ignition wire and jump the solenoid GREAT, it started. Soooo now do I need to just switch out the ignition switch or should I be looking for other problems? All wires seem to be in place?..
Thanks James.%)

You should have a brown wire on the "I" terminal of the starter solenoid that is spliced into the red-green wire going to the pos side of the coil. This is what provides the ignition current in START. If that brown wire is disconnected or broken you'll have those symptoms.
