Hey any suggestions on some inexpensive shocks that I could pick up at a local parts store? They would be just going on my bone stock U13 weekend driver. I know there are plenty of shocks I can buy locally but some aren't worth the effort of putting them on. So is there a cheaper brand of shocks thst any of you guys were more or less happy with???

Thanks Jeff

Shocks in the grand scheme of things are a really cheap item. Even if you buy bilstein shocks you will spend less than $400 and it will ride so much better. You definitely get what you pay for...... I run Fox shocks that are a little more than bilsteins but are so worth it.

Agreed but people do tend to over do shocks. They get miss used due to improper spring selection. They are nothing more than a damper for the spring. With proper spring selection they are not weight supporting only dampening.

I run f150 front coils (6cly) with f-250 (iput in an F250 shock tower) cheapo liquid filled shocks and it rides as good and in most cases better that any other spring/shock arrangement I have ever ridden in. Partly due to the fact that I have a plate, bumper, and wich on the fornt but then again that is what I just said. the spring is a pretty good selection for the load.

You certianly do not need to pay for remote resevoirs or really long travel if you dont need it, in fact a life time warranty on liquid filled shock at the orielys means dont spend much money and you will never buy shocks again.

I run Monroe's on my stock 66 that were installed by the PO. Pretty sure it's the 34900 on the front, 34911 on the rear. They're still in good shape and I'd probably get them again when the time comes. I just wish they weren't yellow.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback! I agree with just about everything said here. How well a vehicle handless all depends on the condition and quality springs, shocks, and bushings. My '66 U13 survivor has 67k and finding out it still had the original FoCoMo cap & rotor and muffler odds are it still has the original shocks too. I wouldn't be surprised if the the brakes weren't original as well. %) So as soon as I'm finish my current U13 build I'm going to start going the survivor truck getting back up to par but not going overboard with it. I mainly drive it on side streets within a few mile radius from home. If I'd any real plans driving this bronco a bit my seriously spending the extra money might be in order.

Once again thanks for everyone's input! I'll give the Monroe shocks a try on this truck and I'll see how they do! Jeff
