Installed the twinsticks today. I was okay until I pulled out the shift pattern sticker that comes with it. The manual and the sticker are reversed. Please tell me which is which. Also I have not removed the pills to enable independent front and rear shifting so what is the right sequence for shifting the thing. I will do the pill removal at the same time as doing the 4r70w and d20 rebuild.

That's strange I'm pretty sure the shift pattern on the manual is the correct one. And don't sweat the pill removal I twinsticked mine 4 years ago and still never got around to doing mine either. I just wanted it to shift easier.

Sorry! Its a T shift. I cant quite test it out just yet because its not fully assembled - EFI install ;D Hopefully I will fire her up this week unless work gets in the way again.

So what is the proper way to shift on these things anyway? Is there any particular sequence to follow? How to test it while standing on a lift without motor running....

With the pills in, starting in neutral/neutral,
Shift the rear side into the range you want first, then you can shift the front into the same range. Coming out of 4wd you must put the front side into neutral before the rear side will move.

After the pills are removed, anything is possible.

np, all ya need to do is shift the left side forward or backwards...then spin the input and see if the front output moves...or move the both forward or backwards then spin the front output, and disengage the left to see if it quits driving the rear ouput...i think i explained that right...lol;D

Right stick is rear/ left is front. Dont just remove pills, they keep things from jumping around and keep a low high case splitting jam from happening. you have to remove the rails and grind where the pills ride to get things to work right for true twin stick operation.

as it is now, rear in high you can shift front into high. rear has to be shifted all the way into low for the front to be shifted into low from neutral.

Right: rear.
Left: front.

Back is High, Forward is Low.

This is how it is for my JB Fab Twin Stick for a '70 'T' shifter.

What are the pills? I looked at adding the twin shifter for two reasons, one, for ease of shifting and two, for the flexibility to lock in either front or rear independently.

Do a search, as well as I think there is a write up in the tech section.
Only an issue if you have the 'T' shifter. 'J' shifter doesn't have this challenge.

* another good reason for a twin sticks*...i blew a rear u joint at an intersection, limped to the side of the road(had no tools with me)...ran to the gas station to buy a cheapO adjustable wrench, got back and started removing the darn bolts, hollered up to my co-pilot to ask him to disengage the rear...THEN IT HIT ME...D O H! **just put the front in, disengage the rear and remove the drive shaft from the axle only(hang it out of the way)...and drive! no need to remove both ends of the drive shaft.

Thanks for the clarification guys!. The rear one moves back and forth quite nicely. The front one not. Seems to be stuck in neutral. Am I correct in the understanding that the vehicle may need to move to somehow align the gears in the box before I can engage the front after the rear has been engaged? Or is turning the wheels alone enough while its on the lift?

Just turning the front yoke slightly should do it.

Thats a great way to confuse newbie retards ;D Ignore the fact that it says guru under my name I am just a newbie post whore ;D

I was in the rig on the lift and another dude was on the ground. I was holding the sticker and he was holding the instructions. Can you imagine the back and forth between us. "Im looking at the shift patern you ***** ***** *****" That went on for about 20 minutes ;D I guess he was right :-[

Crap!
Sorry about that, you have the Jeep/GM sticker.
I am not sure how that got into a Bronco kit, but I will find out.
Email us your address and we will get the right one on its way.
When did you buy the kit?

Jon
