First of all I want to Thank Jay (JGZ) for all the hard work on these and getting them done so fast. I have been doing bodywork since I was around 12 years old and I am picky, can notice any flaws in bodywork and take a lot of pride in the trade and I can tell when someone is good at what they do. I am not just saying this because I got one of the first sets but his Glass work is second to none. His work is straight as an arrow and the fitment was dead on! HIs hoods are Killer!
Most fiberglass you need to put primer surfacer on and block to your hearts content to get it straight before paint. Not the case on Jays products. His you can just scuff and squirt! Thats how good it is.
These panels could be painted or upholstered if you wished.
Now onto some pics. I have to apologize as I took step by step pics but they didnt transfer from my phone so I had to pull one back off to take some pics.
I went with the no screw look and used the Industrial Velcro. Itself made the panel a chore to remove which is good. Not to mention you still have the arm rest and door cup to hold it on as well which makes it even stronger. Stainless screws with button washers could be used in the corners if you wished and liked that look but not needed at all if the Velcro route was chosen.
40 Year Old Stock Panel, Time for an update
Stock Panel removed from door with Velcro installed.
I laid blue masking tape on the top side and marked the holes to drill the screw holes to mount the Pods on the panels. You also can get the Pods to install on your stock door panels if you wish.
Pic of the Pod screwed onto the Fiberglass door panel from the back and only 4 screws were needed to fasten it securly.
Fiberglass door panels and speaker pods assembled ready to install. I did put some 1/8 low density stick on foam between the panels to prevent any vibration
Installed on the door blasting some tunes! I think they turned out great. I will eventually upholster them with charcoal suede when I paint the rig later on.
