796 is actually, 7 for left and right bucket seats and 96, for roadster, or no top. I have never seen any references that put the rear seat on the data tag.

The bulkhead was standard and only omitted when there was a rear seat. The buck tag would state OPCAR followed by BSDP followed by RS

Well, actually I though the 96 was a given, I thought we all knew that part.......... :)

1- Bench seat
6- Driver bucket only
7- Driver/Passenger buckets with no rear seat
9- Driver/Passenger buckets with rear seat

Somebody had a 996 posted up here a few months ago.

So this one was part of the Catarina ranch, not bandera. Can't find any info on what happened to the ranch, but there is cool history on the owner. This was truck #26, can only dream it could have been one of a full fleet of little broncos!
The ranch has a different owner now. No little broncos running around anymore;(

I'm interested in this topic. My U15 has body code 798, buck tag with OPCAR & RS. It also has the rear floor drilled for a bench & seat belts, and there used to be a tailgate mounted spare. All signs it came with buckets & rear bench. Of course it was changed to a bench/bulkhead before I found it.

I hadn't seen any 9 codes.

I would like to clarify the trim code for the '66s. I learned this from '66 bronco guru friend Terry (66Bronco).

The body code is broken down into two parts.

The very first numeric represents the basic interior trim option (1: Bench Seat, 6: Bucket Seat LH and 7: Bucket Seat LH & RH).

The next two digits represent the body type: 96:Roadster, 97:Sports Utility and 98:Wagon

Hope this helps! tim

That 996 is the only one I remember seeing that I can remember. The two part code is the same for 66'-69? 70'? They changed it some time in there and the 1,6,7,9 and 96, 97, 98 was no longer used.

Ail though I have seen no documentation to confirm it, I think that the consensus is, that the very rare 9 was for the Pony interior? I have only seen a few of them. I don't think that I have any pictures of one of those tags on file?

This may help. Here is a 996 on my '67 Roadster. I'm bringing it to the SC, not to sell, it's one of my "keepers". Funny, I just stumbled upon this thread tonight.
