yeah, dont get me wrong. A nice Roadster for sure, and I too would clean and preserve actually. The roadster I finished recently was really rough and truly needed resto. Yours has patina and alot going for it in terms of originality.

Few things I would like to point out here. Looks like it came with a soft top at one time. I see snaps/buttons on the tailgate as well as the rise on the windshield frame. The bumpers definitely look original. I see twin holes on the front bumper which may or may not have installed bumper guards. Any signs of wear marks around the holes? And does the windshield frame have remnants of the mounting part of the visor brackets still attached? Like the brackets broke off?

As for a speaker cover grill, no doubt it never had one especially since there was no radio ever. I bet there is no speaker installed either. Radios, speakers and covers came in kits and were dealer installed. It was up to the dealer to install all. I have seen at times radios installed and still no cover. I have seen covers over the years mounted to the dash still in red primer - never painted. And then of course your careful dealers would paint to match and install properly.

Most likely this roadie had wheel covers and the horn ring. It was a chrome package upgrade. Reason for no radio or heater delete? Texas and on a ranch!

I don't think there ever was a bulkhead. The tire mounting hardware is still attached to the tailgate indicating the bed to be fully accessible. Check the roadster and see if the bed holes were tapped for a rear seat. I have seen several broncos with no rear seat installed and the factory holes soft puttied.

Very nice clean find!! Many congrats!! tim

No interest in hijacking your thread but here are 2 pix per request.

Ive learned 2 things from your truck I will need to correct on ours. I noticed I ran my wiper washer lines incorrectly.

Also noticed the license plate spring retainer to the tailgate is CAD plate (mine was painted when it was resprayed).

Thank you! Would love to see yours! No holes for back seat. Shifter is there just in the back. The column needs some work. Resto is coming.

Tim any thoughts about the soft top, and the drip edge extensions not present on this truck (see pic of the drip extension), as to if it was a dealer installed Whitco, or is it as simple as maybe they were forgotten (or didn't bother).

Also on the sun visors, there is a pic where you can see the visor bases attached to the windshield frame, they must have broken off.

66intx, might you have a picture of the inside of the tailgate?

What a great truck.

I'm aware of a couple ranches by that name, not sure if they are the same owner. I'm chasing a story now of another rancher in South Texas who supposedly has 4 old Broncos they used to use for hunting lease rigs, all stored in a shed.
I know who the rancher is, just havn't run across him to ask...

You are correct on the soft top dealer install as well. My white one never had the drip extensions at the bottom along with the aluminum hold downs half way up the side of the windshield frame either. It's the little things those installers figured didn't matter. Go figure!

I agree with Tim. The chrome bumpers, tail light bezels and the horn ring were an appearance package. Yours would have had front bucket seats and a rear seat from the factory, having the brackets still on the tail gate. So, that would mean no bulkhead panel. The Whitco tops were installed by the dealers, so some cut corners and did not follow the instructions completely, resulting in various differences. It definitely had a Whitco top on it in the past.

There is a guy EBay selling parts off of a yellow 66. It has a bulkhead panel in it with original paint. If your wanting to put one in, you might contact them and try to get it.

A couple of other thing that I noticed after looking at pictures again. It has never had doors mounted on it. You can see where the original bucket seats used to be mounted.

this one came from diamond h ranch, but it isn't the same as the current diamond h, although it shares a logo. original owner HH Cofeild. if you google him he is an interesting guy, and his ranch was pretty cool. the runway in catarina is named after him, and a jail in east tx somewhere. He was big apparently in the texas prison system on top of being a big time land owner, oil man, cattle rancher, amongst other things.

i have 125 more pics im uploading, and will post soon. i dropper her off at paint shop yesterday. i couldnt resist.

yours is what i want mine to be. although my wife wants me to make it carribean blue.... told her not happening.

@66intx....nice EB..i like the side mirror....Where you located at? you live in TX? Im here in San Antonio.

im in san antonio as well.

mine did have the buckets only, no rear seat holes. i took alot more pictures to maybe answer some more questions. its funny what 66 traits mine had and didnt have. oh and i do have the shifter, but its broken off, so i put it in the back.. it makes shifting more fun when you have to put the rod in to use it!

I'm thinking of the Diamond H ranch at Catarina, the one with the airport. Same logo.
Also there is a Diamond H ranch up at Bandera that sells mail order wrapped quail, but no idea what their logo is.

Your Bronco is a time piece, amazing find. I found one in Pueblo a few years ago but sold it to someone who loved it more than me. They're still out there;)

So this one was part of the Catarina ranch, not bandera. Can't find any info on what happened to the ranch, but there is cool history on the owner. This was truck #26, can only dream it could have been one of a full fleet of little broncos!

796 is actually, 7 for left and right bucket seats and 96, for roadster, or no top. I have never seen any references that put the rear seat on the data tag.

The bulkhead was standard and only omitted when there was a rear seat. The buck tag would state OPCAR followed by BSDP followed by RS

I bet I'll be downloading a lot of them for reference.

Ours is "50 50" paint. It deserves some paint and dent fixing, but it's is so original, and the respray was done a very long time ago, I can't do it. It's good enough.

Glad it's not changing colors. Also hopefully the paint shop will take the time (with your budget support) and pay attention to the bits that shouldn't be painted. Too many of these have all the Cad plated parts painted. I guess I might be a touch obsessed with originality. Again, great truck.
