I just found this web site so hear goes 5 years ago I got a 74 bronco with all intention of restoring it. But with marriage and buying a house my plans got pushed back. Now with that out of the way lets get down to business. Where to began, Ive started buy tearing down the bronco 1st taking the body off the fame and I'm almost done with the motor. I took the 302 and stoked it out to a 331. I've also have new fount and rear end from currie enterprises and a 5.5 lift kit from james duff. What I'm needing help with now is the sheet metal work whos got the best replacement sheet metal for broncos and how hard are they to put in. I'm a good welder and I just got a millermatic 140. Thank for the help.

Welcome to the site c1green.

I would look at the various vendors and determine what best suits your budget. They are pretty comparable as far as quality sheet metal replacement goes.. Just MO...

You should post some pics of your rig. "Become a contributor, or photobucket"

If you have to replace major parts on the body you may want to consider putting the tub back on the frame with new bushings and welding supports in before you start.
These tubs flex even with new metal. If you weld new parts on while it is off the tub you could be in for a big surprise when you put it back on.

I had good luck with all the parts I got from the Broncograveyard.

Good luck.

hello johnjohn

I've looked at the graveyard the parts that I need look good. Also I saw a pic in your gallery where you had the body on a tube fame, I would like to do that and your wright about putting the body back on the fame because when I took the body off the fame the front folded. I did put braces in at the doors so the rest of the body wouldn't fold. My 1st order of business is to fix the front end. Thanks for the help.

I'm live just outside of KC, Missouri and I am darn sure there are several guys on here that are in the NC area. Someone will post up, there is a great bunch of folks on this site to answer all your questions.

You are a hand full of hours from me. There are quite a few NC Bronco owners on this site.

For my restoration I had learned everything I needed from the guys on this site.

I braced the body and did all of the metal replacement while the tub was on the frame. I then made a body cart and pulled the tub from the frame and used the cart to transport the tub to the media blaster and painter. The cart worked out well for me but it took almost two years for me to get the tub back on the frame. It was just a matter of money.

If you are interested I may have the card plans written up somewhere in my computer.
Another option is to pick up another frame and weld some legs to it and use it as a body cart.
