K-line/Rampage top to tailgate question

I have a soft top which I purchased second hand but unused. All of the hardware seemed to be in order except for I simply can't figure out how this aluminum bar/channel is supposed to hold the back flap to the tailgate?
The back flap has a plastic bead in it like the one that you fold into the door channels, but the aluminum channel that attaches to the tailgate doesn't seem to have any matching place to put that.

Thanks,
JB

If it’s a Rampage then the tailgate fixture has a J channel just like the sides. The top is folded back on itself and tucked into the J channel. I can get a pic of mine when I get back home Sunday evening if no one else posts.

That would make sense. My channel is either defective or from a different top because it has no groove to tuck the top into. A pic would be awesome!

What does the other side of your tailgate channel look like? Is it possible to install them backwards?

It will go either way either with the three L brackets under their corresponding brackets on the tailgate (shown) or with the flat channel under the corresponding brackets on the tailgate.
Either way there's no groove in which to insert the tailgate flap.
I'm thinking of having an upholsterer install snaps.

Maybe this will help. I saved it after installing mine back in 2010. See fig 9 in the PDF for a detailed view.

Here's a better picture of the profile of the tailgate ber.

you need to remove that old angle iron piece, then install the top channel. It looks like you had one installed at some point and removed the part that goes across the tailgate.. Also, when you go to slide the top under the lip, collapse the top frame first, slide it under the channel, then snap the frame back into place. If I was with you we'd have it done in 5 minutes. It's not hard once you understand it. Good luck

There is no channel like the sides. The "channel" is formed by the space between the tailgate and the aluminum angle.
