Hahaha!! That I understand!! I only looked at videos that had very structured tests of several different sets of lights.

Did you see my pics at least comparing them side by side with my 2018 F250 amd 2018 CRV? Pretty fair comparison.

I have more questions than answers.

Yes it is, and what I was referring to.

Light hitting anywhere but the road ahead of you is a waste of power.

Here's some pics. Can't compare lts on a garage door at 25'. Yes, you can measure lumens there but you want to see what the peripheral, down the road focused beam and also, how much of your light is going up into the trees or oncoming traffic windshields because the beam isn't focused?

1st pic is taken with Grotes from my bridge looking over my pasture to a neighbors house across the County road. Appr. 1200 or so. That old farmhouse is LIT UP! :)

2nd pic is on my driveway with the Grotes. Appr 800+ft to the trees that are lit up. I couldn't even make out that there were trees there with my 90W Hella H4 bulbs and lenses. Seriously, couldn't even see a shadow.

3rd pic SCATTER light. These are a different brand LED that I tried. I think these are the types that blind everyone! :( notice the next pic

4th pic- Hella H4 55w/90watt in Hella housings. Same distance away as #3 pic. You can see how concentrated the light is--- meaning little if any peripheral light. Compare that to #2 pic showing fence over 20' to the right.

I have a bunch more pics as I try to document stuff fairly well. I compared these to my wife's /18 CRV and my /18 F150.

1st pic shows Grote profile

2nd pic shows Grote on low in the same position as other pics on garage door. Razor sharp cutoff up high, no glare and you can see how the light has some peripheral even at appr 20' from door and in the pic above on the fence posts along my drive.

Very happy with the Grotes. I have some pics showing how much less reflection and stray light my '18 F150 has in trees about 10' off the ground appr 15' in front of the truck and the Grotes don't even show the limbs of the trees there... no stray light.

So do you like the Grotes better than your H4s?

Todd, yes.

Grotes have much improved peripheral and they reach out a LOT further - like hundreds of feet over my Hella housings & H4 bulbs that were 55/90. My Hella tests with the 90/130 bulbs I had I accidently deleted :( but they might have been acceptable had I lived somewhere w/o ANY other people driving around but 90W low beams might attract some attention since my only 2 ways to town are: 1- I drive past the WA State Patrol office or 2- I drive past our Kittitas County Sheriff's office... I don't know any active Staters anymore and only know 4 of the local County Mounties and since I do attract "some" attention, I probably shouldn't push it too much! lol

Grotes were a huge step up.

Each time I turn on my headlights (like tonight as I just came in) I am surprised when they come on. Razor sharp cutoff line, super good peripheral, whiter light and much, much farther beam out front with a LOT more light out front.

Glad I finally did it and waited till I could find a light that didn't (to me anyway) look like it belonged on an Audi or Alien ship of some kind... lol

If anyone is considering these, Advance Auto parts lists the Grote 90941-5 for $129.99. Search on line for a discount code and get $50 off.

I’m not ready to spend $200 plus for headlights but these really seem to light up the night. Also check out the Grote website for a graphic of the light output compared to a halogen lamp. Looks impressive like the pictures in the above posts.

Before i go ahead and order these Grote lights just wondering if they are an exact fit in the grill as an OEM bulb? Read some reviews on other vehicle applications and they're saying they're not exact fit.
Thanks

They fit in mine. I have small rubber pcs on the 3 "bumps" for lack of a better description. W/o these rubber "bumps" the bulb would not have fit very tightly. I used these 3 rubber pcs to fit my halogens tightly also.

I have zero clue if these are stock or not... guess I haven't pulled any headlights out of a stock EB in a while... lol

As I think I've already mentioned... I agree that's a LOT of money for a couple lights... but nothing else is close to working as well AND they are the closest to OE look (for the price) I've seen.

Any grote users with stock buckets?

I just tried my supposed first gen LED costing about $200 some 8 years ago, no name I can recall, and not sold anymore, thankfully. It was like holding two candles in front of bronco. Nice white candles making little trash can lid circles about 50 feet in front of truck...

Looks Like I'll give grote a shot then move up to morimoto, which looked better than jw speaker in the video.

Great info thank you! How about the headlight adjustors and springs are they required?
