Stretching a Bronco in the middle does nothing to improve approach and departure angles. It's not the hardest thing you can do either. I did one, moved the rear back 4.5" and the front forward 1.5". Installing Duff long arms made the front a no brainer decision. Trick I did was to use 5.5" springs all around but raised the mounts so it only has 2.5" of lift but all the droop of the longer spring. I think Kyle's is pretty much the same way.
Go full hydraulic or find a shorter pitman arm, maybe a 2wd one, and you can push the front farther. ~1.5" is as far as you can go before you have steering interference.

I'm just over 100" - this is with 40's, the 43's will go on as soon as I get a warranty on my last tire...

I didn't understand when I posted, that the intention was to better the approach and departure angles.
I thought it was to improve the ride of a short wheelbase vehicle. Or to make room for a doubler or to lengthen the driveline to improve shaft angles.

I agree that it would do nothing to improve the approach and departure.

Sorry for the confusion.

Bottom line is... There's no wrong way or right way. It depends on what you want the end result to do/be. Long WB does great for handling and up hill climbs. Short WB is great for big rocks and maneuvering tight trails. Mine is a combo of both... It still looks like a Bronco, yet performs a lot better in almost every situation.

Right? Stretch it and put 40"+ tires on it and you are basically back to stock :D

The stretching of my rig was to raise my roll center and lower my COG. Im basically running a 3 1\2" lift with a 5 1\2" coil. This was to aloow my suspension to articulate great. I went with the 12" ORI on the rear when I linked it. I started out with a 40" Creepy Crawler but hteyreally only measure 38.5" so I ditched them and went with the 37" Trep Sticky Compund.

With staying with a 37" tire/linking/stretching, I dont have the bronco bounce anywhere what I had before i did it along with being stupid stable.

Wow this is all over the place. My intention is to be running 900hp out of my little 5.0 and with long travel shocks. I feel with that hp and a higher ride height because of the longer shock length that it would be a real handful to drive. I run a transbrake and just don't want a wheelie machine, I understand that it will want to come up but I have seen some out on the dunes that are just stupid. Guy went 2wd and I believe 16" shocks so it sits really tall but just goes straight up off the line. I kept the engine in stock location and 4wd for added weight up front plus 14" travel shocks to lower the ride height some to get a better launch. Four link front and rear with sway bars. If I can extend the wheelbase it should make it even better especially to do a little jumping. I am going full hydraulic steering also. I wanted to use the pre-runner front fenders but if I have to trim them from extending the front axle forward I feel it would look like shit. That's why I wanted to see what you guys did with your rigs and how they turned out. I have seen some that look great and others that don't. Just looking for ideas and thanks for the replies!

Yeah - anything over 500HP splits the block, unless you are talking Coyote...

It's a coyote. From everything I gathered from all the mustang forums the stock blocks are splitting around 1250. My C-4 is rated at 1000. With pistons, rods, springs, retainers and a Boss intake I should be around the 900 mark running E-85. This is providing I have enough left over to get these parts installed. Worst case in stock configuration I can run 7lbs of boost which should put me around the 650 mark and will upgrade motor later if it comes to it. Why am I doing it? Always wanted a hotrod and there is a lot of fast shit at our dunes and want to join in the fun! Sick of all the Jeeps and Blazers stealing the show. Time to put a Ford in the mix! Still accumulating parts and working a ton of hours to buy more so shop time has been non existent so looking at the winter to hit it hard. Just got my Bend tech software so now I can start designing my cage!

4" forward on the front and 4" back on the back. And no laughing about towing with the Turtle, pulls as well as any 1/2 ton p/u if pulled it with, just happend to be the only fairly straight side shot I have on my computer....LOL

Yeller, After studying your pic some more, did you stretch the body also? Rear wheel opening looks untouched? I think 4" and 4" would be a good combo for my rig. 100" should be perfect!

The rear lower quartes have been reworked. The panel as been replaced from the door to the wheel opening and is spliced over the top of the tire. Just the lower portion to correct the wheel opening. The wheel tubs have been moved back as well. The upper part is all factory. and the tub is factory length.

For the ones who have the rear pushed back 5"+ what are you doing with the rear frame cross member? Cutting it out and relocating it?

If I had known from the start hiw steep my rear driveline was going to end up I would probably have moved my rear end back.
But I am not competing or doing extreme offroading.
You guys are doing some cool stuff.
