Do any of ya'll run line locks? If so, can you show/tell me how you mounted it and plumbed it up? What valve did you use? I don't really want to run a mechanical e brake or any pinion variation. Thanks

Line locks do not make good park brakes. Solenoids not rated for continous use.

Line locks are only good for short term use (measured in seconds). Originally for drag racers to hold front tires locked wheile they do a burn out or to keep them from rolling while staged at the lights. Always having a driver at the controls.

They are not a parking brake, do not use them as such. It is NOT safe to do.

Yep, line locks have there place, but not as a substitute for a parking/emegency brake. Actually lack of a mechanical emergency brake is illegal in most states.

I didn't mention I have an auto. The line lock would be used just in case in needed it on the trail to get out and block my tires. I would also use it as a theft deterant. That said and safety paranoia aside, anyone run a linelock?

Most subarus with a manual trans have a "hill holder" feature, where when the clutch is depressed, it holds the brakes so that amateurs don't roll when they let off the brake.
all it is, is a cable actuated line lock. I't'd be possible to plumb one (or 4) into the brake lines, and run cables to actuate 'em

Micro locks are NOT in the same class as line locks. They are meant to be used for temporary parking brakes in heavy equipment. I have considered installing one in the Front line to give me 4 parking brakes or the ability to spin the rear around with the front locked up.

I can tell you from experience, and you can easily discover for yourself that all of these locks will bleed down over time. From several minutes to several hours but they will bleed down.

Some models of the Mico-locks integrate a warning circuit that will sound your horn if they are set and the line PSI drops below a certain point.

Personally, I use the Summit Racing line lock solinoids. They are rated for continous duty which not all solenoid types are.

I only use mine to temporarly hold my rig in place while in a position that just putting it in park is not suitable. They also come in handy when winching or performing unusual manuvers off road.

BTW, I run one for the front and one for the rear mounted in the firewall just under the master cylinder.

I bought my electric ones from Summit back in '98 (I think). They work great, don't bleed down, but they will run an Optima down after several days... (ask me how I know). :)

Agreed, temp ebrake use only. Course that wasn't a big deal with a stick. Now I'm running an auto and am planning on hooking my ebrake which I haven't had since '98.

I had something that was an inline brake lock! This was so that I could put it on so that no one could steal it unless they had a flatbed truck and dragged it up with a winch!

I would LOVE to have something like that again to keep thieves from taking the truck!;D
