Just saw a short demo on Reality Rides on Lizard Skin thermal block. They had a frying pan 1/2 coated with their product. They heated it on a burner and added ice. The uncoated side boiled away, the coated side didn't. If it works as stated it would help with the firewall and floorboards.

Anyone have any real experience with their products?

Watching the video I assume that the you could spray the floor pans from the inside to keep the heat out. That would be a lot easier than underneath. Curious if you can top coat it with paint or bedliner. I guess I could look at their site for answers, just want to bring it to the attention of the forum.

you can make your own using microbubbles and Home Depot mis-tint latex paint. I used it on my firewall when I put my truck together. Google home made lizard skin, there are plenty of write ups.

I was told that you could not paint on top of it but you could top it with a bedliner or carpet.
This is from the shop painting my bronco who talked to the manufacturer. I wanted a painted floor so it wouldn't work for me.

al's liner /scorpion makes a nice heat/noise reducer (HNR) as well. I've been using it for about 18 months now. very happy with it.

I used the lizard skin on my rig. They have 2 kinds, sound deadening and the heat resistant one youre talking about. I read all the DIY mix articles and ended up buying the heat resistant type then ordered "sound insulation beads" from some airline paint wholeseller, mixed and sprayed. Took a little bit of experimenting to get the right consistency to spray out of the gun provided (thin with water) and sprayed a bunch of thin coats. After ample drying time I scuffed it and top coated with undercoat. Been a year and no problems yet.
