Locking Hood Pins

I have looked at the options out there, looks like NRG and aerocatch make the kits and that's pretty much it.

I don't like either one, though, and I was hoping to not have to change out the entire hood latch set, just the pins. If I didn't care about the damage/ugliness I could just put padlocks on them, but not sure if that would be all that secure anyway.

Has anyone else found/custom made a pin that locks without having to buy a whole new kit? I was also thinking of just using a chain and some kind of hidden internal lock to keep the hood from being opened and just keep my regular pins...then they wouldn't even know why they couldn't get it open.

I tried the hood locks that replace the pins but they sucked. It was a good idea but they always seemed to rotate with road vibration. 1/2 the time you tried to unlock them the pin on the cylinder key was in between locked and unlocked. Then you needed to try and turn the entire lock with channelocks to get the hood open. I tried a few different brands and they all did the same thing. Now I just run standard hood pins.
