Three years ago did a 8000+ mile road trip, towing an M416 trailer full of camp gear (wheeled in three different states on the trip as well). Went from Bend, OR to Wilmington, NC then up to Gore, VA for the MEB Roundup (great event!), from there up to Gettysburg, PA then down the Appalachians and Smokey Mountains to Tennessee, then across to Mammoth Caves in Kentucky. After that meandered over to the Alpine Loop in Colorado on our way to Moab. Then across the Nevada desert to Crater Lake, OR on the the way back home to Bend, Oregon. Most of the trip was on back roads through several states. A very fun time with my kids!

Longest was my 3000 mile round trip to SOB back in 2000 (with a safari top on the truck). In 2010, Andrew and I drove it back from La Paz after the NORRA 1000 - that was about a 1500 mile trip. And last fall Terry and I drove it on about a 2200 mile round trip on our northern NV trip. No major problems on any of the trips but I do keep the wrenches handy. I wouldn't hesitate to get in it tomorrow and drive across the country if I needed to.

I remember that!

Longest for me was in my first Bronco, a 69, when it was my daily driver. Eureka, Ca to Corona, CA. About 1500 miles round trip.

Longest in my trail rig was probably from NoVA to Paragon about 400 miles round trip. I'd love to do a cross-country run in it, but not sure my wife would go for it!

My longest trip was Greeley, CO to Sacramento, Ca to Los Angeles, Ca to SanDiego, CA a short jont into Mexico then back through Vegas, Denver and Home. I don't remember the miles but it was a hot as hell through Nevada on the way home. I love road trips. Planes take all the adventure out of vacations.

In my first Bronco (1973) I went from los angeles, Calif. to the Calgary Stampede Rodeo in Alberta, Canada.
Lost a rear u-joint in Glacier Park, Montana. Pulled the driveshaft out and stuffed it into 2 paper grocery bags back to back to contain the grease debris. Locked the front hubs and drove into Canada to a chevy dealer who was open on a Saturday. They let me use their lift; and they only charged me for the spicer u-joint. I will always extend the same courtesy to any Canadian here in the U.S. in need. That was 1977.

2010 drove from Mesa AZ to Branson MO by way of Dallas, 3600 miles round trip. Only hitch was replacing a front wheel bearing in a parking lot in Clovis NM. 2011 Mesa AZ to Durango CO to SLC UT and back. Total mileage was less, but almost 400 miles off road, replaced a rear axle bearing 30 miles outside of Lake Powell. I have no qualms about driving my Bronco anywhere.

Waiting for Herman to reply in this thread:D

Drove mine as a DD from Home to Albany Ga. for a few months. 6 hours each way, towing a pop up camper! Being a roadster, no doors makes the long trips alot more fun than being cramped up inside any other vehicle, A/C is over-rated!

I drove from Southern California up to Utah to go Skiing and back a couple of times in college. That's about 1,400 round trip. Best part of the trip was stopping in Vegas and loading up the back of the truck with beer to take up to drink with all my buddies at University of Utah (all they had was 3-2 beer back then). Aahh, great memories!

Drove my first Bronco, a '74 from southern IL to West Palm Beach FL and back. That was a long time ago 1976, I had only had it a year and a half. Drove our '69 home after we bought it about 70 miles away. Drive the '76 around home, usually under 75 miles one way.

I get 60 miles on a tank so i dont plan on going very far! I would love to but with 3 other vehicles that get 3 times the milage, the bronco ant a road tripper! I would love to have it down in the keys someday but thats a 3000 mile round trip. Thats 25 gas stops each way! When i used to make that drive with the excursion it was less than 2 tanks each way.

Last year we were on the road about 20 days, around the mid 4,000 mile mark. Then a few weeks after that I did another 800 mi or so to run the Big Bear Bronco Bash

This year about the same , only without the second run. We've been doing trips like this for about the last 13 years or so, poor Bronco doesn't see much down time being a Daily runner.

Sound like you're ready for a adventure. grab your tool kit , spare parts and duct tape and get out there man,,, it's a lotta fun ! ;D

Bob:

I think you and Dori have us all beat in both the length and frequency of your trips! You two are my long haul heroes!

Drove the 66 about 30 feet after it was dropped off by the transport. No brakes, no lights and it was really dark. It only took the one little jaunt to realize my blown out knees aren't up to a clutch any longer. But damn that was fun :)
