the only reason I did it was i had a Blazer that I killed and literally had everything sitting there, wasn't until after I had it finished and needed a new power plant that I put in the LS. I was looking for an S10 or Ranger for a cab truck figuring an EB was not in the budget but some EB brothers convinced me otherwise, which I'm very glad they did.
the other is money, compare putting together a small block Ford that gets into the 400hp range WITH fuel injection that will support it and install it for less than $3k that has factory support, its very difficult to do. I can go to any parts store anywhere and buy any sensor or part i may need, nothing is aftermarket except the air filter. can even stop and do diagnostics if needed just about every little mountain town has a mechanic that can scan and diagnose a GM engine.
Very well put. I have the same mindset but to add to it, I'm a GM guy at heart and mine has too much sentimental value to ever care how much "value" is lost by doing what I want to do. Plus it was a 6-cyl truck anyways so I would have to go through the same process to put any v8 in it. Sorry it ruffles anyone's feathers but I'm building my truck to my preference and it's what I prefer.
