LS Powerplants

the only reason I did it was i had a Blazer that I killed and literally had everything sitting there, wasn't until after I had it finished and needed a new power plant that I put in the LS. I was looking for an S10 or Ranger for a cab truck figuring an EB was not in the budget but some EB brothers convinced me otherwise, which I'm very glad they did.

the other is money, compare putting together a small block Ford that gets into the 400hp range WITH fuel injection that will support it and install it for less than $3k that has factory support, its very difficult to do. I can go to any parts store anywhere and buy any sensor or part i may need, nothing is aftermarket except the air filter. can even stop and do diagnostics if needed just about every little mountain town has a mechanic that can scan and diagnose a GM engine.

Very well put. I have the same mindset but to add to it, I'm a GM guy at heart and mine has too much sentimental value to ever care how much "value" is lost by doing what I want to do. Plus it was a 6-cyl truck anyways so I would have to go through the same process to put any v8 in it. Sorry it ruffles anyone's feathers but I'm building my truck to my preference and it's what I prefer.

People need to stop caring what others think.

I am building a 2wd bronco with an ls. It's everything people hate. When people start giving me money to build it I will take their opinions.

Ss69, what transmission and transfer case will you be using? I'll be going with a 5.3 and a 4L60E. I'm still undecided on which t-case to use

Drivetrain is out of a 02 Silverado. 4l60e and nv261. Will eventually swap to a np np231 or 241. Looks like the floorboard will need notched quite a bit.

Awesome. That's the exact same set up that I've been looking for, out of a full size truck or even SUV (tahoe or suburban). Would you recommend finding something out of a 4x4 model, transmission wise? I've come across a lot of good deals, mainly complete running vehicles but they're all 2wd. I understand I can alway change out the tail shaft but that may be too much work since I'll have to disassemble the whole transmission.

Look for a 231 from an S10 or colorado, they are much smaller. a 241/261 will require quite a bit of notching to fit.

That's what I've been told by a friend, I just didn't know if he knew what he was talking about lol. I also plan on running a 1" body lift to help a little bit with clearance issues.

Quite a bit to say the least. ;D Was more than I thought. But the way it was covered up made it look pretty good.

I'm picking up my parts truck tomorrow.

It's a 2000 Chevy Silverado Z71. It has 174k miles but it runs and drives, just has a collapsed brake lines lol. Not bad for $1,000 in my opinion, PLUS I will have just about everything needed for the swap. Maybe I'll fix the brakes and flip it for a profit and have more cash to spend on the bronco. Endless possibilities.

Yep, should have just about everything you need. It would be tempting to flip it though with the kind of $ they are bringing with under 200k miles.
