Between vacation and an impromptu 4 week project in Germany, I didn’t get much done this fall. However, I got the power steering plumbing straightened out as well as the fuel feeds. Today I got to

Now to put it away for the winter as hunting season is on us which rolls right into ski season

Wow, 6 months since the last update. sorry about that folks!!!

I scrambled at the end of the fall to get stuff put up for the winter and move on to winter stuff

sadly no pics from hunting season to share :-(

I got 59 days in ski boots this year and also passed the fist of three exam modules to get my level 3 instructor certification. the good news is that there were no injuries this ski season and NO KIDNEY STONES!!!

mid march i snuck out to wichita to see family and see Metallica. good seats too.

Once skis got put away, i pushed hard on prepping parts for the next round of painting.

Fronts got cut

Two weekends ago my buddy came over and we shot color and clear

I'm really happy with how the grill came out

i hung the dash to check fit etc

dry fit dash.jpg

The temp cable was not nearly long enough so i had to work out a solution. I cut the wire, drilled it out of the pull knob and soldered a new piece in.

i cut 6 inches from an old donor cable and welded that on

once heat shrink went on it looks stock and should solve the problem.

last night i hung the tailgate

the painted panels all need to be sanded and buffed still

Hopefully this weekend i can get the dash installed and get the wiring run and tested.

There's the update fellas

Not a player, just a loyal 5th member :)

Thx but not full on level three yet. got the childrens module out of the way. need to get into really good shape before even considering taking the level 3 skiing portion.

the booth is quite primitive but effective enough.

a quick update on activities from a busy spring and early summer.

I got the painless install ~95% complete and have been bolting stuff on. Paint has not been wet sanded or buffed yet.

7.19 snip.jpg

next step is exhaust and then onto mounting windshield glass, painting doors and hood and then shakedown driving.

Wow. i just realized that it has been nearly a year since my last build update. that is really unacceptable but a lot has happened.

I was in Europe for work in July and was able to scalp a ticket to see Metallica, AGAIN, this time in Berlin! i saw them 5 times this tour. then it was off to Slovakia for a staff meeting then on to Netherlands to audit a supplier.

right after i got home from that trip Dad sadly took a turn for the worst and passed away. my sister and i were able to be there with him at the end and under the circumstances, a best case scenario. dealing with his estate has taken more time than we anticipated but is nearly complete.

i was able to get custom exhaust installed by a local exhaust shop. the guy did a really nice job and it sounds great. stainless pipe with two in two out flowmaster. i promise to NEVER get tired of how it sounds!

i made up speaker boxes and got them installed and finally wired in. they sound good. im not sure if i will install a second pair somewhere yet or not but i do have bungs welded in to the roll cage to mount some speaker boxes down the road.

i finally got the door skins assembled. they fit pretty well but still need some love with the hammer and dolly before paint.

i wet sanded the hood and just didnt like the metal surface enough to paint it and it would be a ton of work to get it any better so i decided to get a new one. (was a bit of a cluster getting it from CJ Pony parts but thats a story for another time).

my girlfriend and i went to colorado to tend to stuff at Dads house and do some hiking and 4 wheeling which was fun, except we learned that Colleen gets panic attacks on the narrow shelf roads so we did not get to go all the way down Black Bear and we had to turn around at the summit. i guess that will become an individual accomplishment.

we snuck out to Portland to see a friend of hers and just chill for a few days and bum around. my first time in the PNW and it did not disappoint.

then it was time to put stuff away and get ready for ski season. the season was not that great due to the lack of snow and ended abruptly with the corona virus closures which also forced us to cancel a quick trip back to Colorado for some skiing.

i wound up teaching a class at the local tech one night a week for the spring semester. this was a fun thing to do and the class appreciated the real world experience i was able to bring to the subject matter.

When work from home hit, i figured i would be working on the bronco a ton but work ended up being quite busy and the weather was so lousy i just couldn't get much done.

once the weather improved, i moved all my dirt working stuff over to my girlfriends place to install a new lawn for her. it really came out well.

finally back to the bronco! i got the intake plumbing worked out, the aux tank installed, new 35's installed and some other minor tasks. im currently hoping to get the doors and hood painted in the next two weeks and button stuff up.

i also bought a flat bed and ordered a new truck in anticipation of hauling the bronco out to colorado for extended vacations. no idea when the truck will show up but the trailer tows nicely and im finalizing winch installation as well as some additional tie down points.

its crazy how much happens in life when you look back at a year like this. Hopefully i will be on the road by early august and shake it down. i have about 6 miles on it now. engine runs great but the handling is sloppy. im not too worried about it just yet since it has not been aligned yet.

i will post pics shortly
