Yes, DWalker, your '74 Explorer is VIKING RED and I love it and want a viking red explorer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These PPG paint code charts don't have it listed on the 1974 chart as you can see, but the 1975 chart has it listed as code 6:

Ok our's is a 1974 with paint code 6. If I got all this right our's is viking red. Right?

Anyone have pics of Medium Silver Poly? It is color code V on '77s. Better yet, does anyone have pics of a medium Silver Poly Ranger?

Post #8 is a pic I took of a friends rig with original paint and the Special Decor Group package stripe when we patterned the reproduction stripes we make off his rig. That is not Calypso Coral. It is a 77, and that color was not offered that year.

The only orange listed in the 77 sales brochure is Vista Orange.

My old 77 was Tangerine. And thats about as orange as it get's.

What I found digging around a bit ----

1. skylight blue
2. 71 grabber green (metallic?)
3. 67 poppy red
4.72 grabber green (poly?)

Picture No. 2, in front of the barn, in the snow. Is this a famous site for broncos to be photographed??? I have several pictures of other broncos in front of this same barn, and in the snow.

My 77 sport was originally painted "Dark Nectarine Poly" Looks pretty ugly from the color chart, but I've never seen a photo of a truck actually painted that color...

I just noticed that on the 1972 color chart HOT GINGER POLY has a Z by the chip. Maybe it is the same thing. Looks close enough.. Anyone know?
