PSA that looks like the Quarterhorse is back available in case anybody was looking for one.

And a question on wanting to plot real time data from a A9P ECM EEC-IV for people - I've like to dig in a bit and be able plot parameters in real time (no desire to tune). Is Quarterhorse with some kind of software the right approach? What's fuzzy to me what software is needed if all I want to do is plot realtime. i.e. BinaryEditor only seems needed for making changes?

For now, I don't think I need wide band since not tuning, more like plotting TPS, temps, etc

So Quarterhorse and maybe a version of TunerPro?

You need moates quarterhorse, binary editor, and EEC anaylzer. I think Clint Garrity from DIxon, CA did binary editor and EEC analyzer. Clint is a wonderful guy (like EFIguy). I had a problem whent eh laptop was plugged into Moates and Shaun, from AED in Shingle Springs, called Clint Garrity. When I came back, I had a small rear axle leak so he wouldn't tune it until is was taken care of, Clint Garrity came to the shop and helped with the tune.

Appreciate the reply, seemed like that was the case, I just hate bending all the components on the ECM to mount the QH since the A9P / A9Ls are getting rare, expensive, and old.

Wonder if there is some kind of extension cable to take the J3 connector off board the ECM and connect the QH outside of the box?

I will try to get a pic of what I have.
I had to connect the chip to the ECM that had a port for the cable, but my ecm was easy to remove to pull the chip out.

Thanks for pic, looks like you have one of the versions with a soldered battery. Did you have to bend components on the ECM board to get the QH to mount on the J3 connector?

Didn’t have to bend anything, just cut the tape away that Ford had placed

broncoitaliano, Super interesting on not having to bend the components on the board, nearly every video seems to show that is needed.

I ordered the connectors above and may try to build an extension cable.

I had to bend components on both of my A9L's but it wasn't exactly scary. Just pushed them over a bit. I ran for years with those. The problems I had with mine were capacitors going bad, which had nothing to do with the Quarterhorse. I re-capped them myself, problem solved. If all you are doing is looking at data, there may be cheaper ways to do it.

Appreciate the info, yup - I swapped my caps maybe 4 years ago. I’ll let folks know when I get parts in from Digikey and see how my crappy soldering skills work out on building the extender cable

How did you like TunerPro? From some offline convos, I think the file extension type for TunerPro is .xdf (goes with .bin file).

I got around to making the J3 extension cable today, will be a while before I get back to the QH and software though. The parts mentioned above are indeed the right parts to mate with the Ford J3 connector. I may need to add some EMI shielding but given the QH hangs out when installed, maybe not.
