Modifying factory air cleaner question for sniper

Going to run sniper efi, would like to use factory air cleaner assembly with fresh air duct to core support. Can I eliminate the vacuum actuator doo hickey and plastic elbow in the pics or is there a benefit to keeping. Also can I plug the holes in the bottom of the air cleaner housing? So in short this would just be a blanked off housing with fresh air intake. Sorry if stupid questions.

I did this last week. Found a Ford snorkel at the junk yard and modified it to breathe. Will hook up the fresh air hose next.

Yes you can. I cut the rivet off and the vacuum modulator came off. Used a small cold chisel to get out the flapper and welded the holes closed with some flat sheet material. Plugged the other holes on the air cleaner housing just in case I want to run the breather in there.

Heat riser delete.

Should be fine with the EFI. The original design was to hold a steady(ish) 100° inlet air temperature for the carburetor. This makes it easier to maintain a tune and emissions. With EFI there are feedback sensors and self tuning that don't need a steady inlet temp to hold a tune. So delete the hot air riser, take advantage of a cold air duct, all is happy.

And the two holes in the bottom can be closed as well, but the larger keyed hole in the side I would leave and keep your charcoal canister connected.
