What is the best way to mount a 48" Hi-lift jack in the bed of a 69 Bronco. I was thinking about fabing a mounting system to go on the lip of the bed. Any ideas and instructions?

If you have some scrape metal setting around you can fab up something simple and cheap. But you for sure want it SECURE, a high lift to the back of the head would be a bit painful. Also think about secure like lockable, so some scum bag does not swipe it.

There are alot of mount kits on the web, I mean alot of bolt on a go set ups.https://www.northerntool.com/shop/t...2RWzVgN00LIv7g4Con0PLxQMLI_v9NzwaAktdEALw_wcB

https://hi-lift.com/accessories/ vehicle mount...https://hi-lift.com/accessories/vehicle-mounts/hi-lift-roll-cage-mount/

Cruise the web get some free fab ideas and then get with it. And post pics of what works for you.

The 48-incher is almost too long for an EB. At least it's an awkward length for some mounting locations.

The rear tire carrier in an upright position is my first try.

I like the roll-bar kickers, but if you run a hard top it's an awkward fit. Not too bad to get to from the tailgate area, but if you're fully loaded with gear even that's not great.

If a full cage and no top, there are probably a lot of tubes that have one thing or another going for them.

Across a bumper is not bad, but not optimum either, for every vehicle.

I've even seen then along the side of the frame believe it or not. And the ones I've seen were very clean and worked out very well for the owners.

Remember too though, that if you find a sweet spot and it's just too big, you can chop off a few inches of the beam and still have a longer jack than a 36 or 42 model.
You don't really want to lose any of that length if you're lifted or get into really weird spots and like to use the Hi-Lift to get out of a jam. But if it's the difference between mounting in the spot you like, or not, I wouldn't hesitate to lop an inch or three off.

Good luck. Let us know what you settle on and post up pics!

2x4 steel rectangle tubing (1/8 wall?) slides over the top of a high lift very nice. Or spin around a high lift slides into the tubing very nice. I built a spare tire carrier using this tubing, put an extra tab on it. The jack slid in, a wing bolt (like a wing nut but with a bolt instead of a nut) went through the jack and into the tab. Locked the jack in place and it didn't rattle. By using the spare tire carrier the tubing (and jack) are put in at a 45° angle so the overall height isn't above the roofline.

I have mine mounted horizontally on the floor just behind the front seats. The mounts are bolted to the roll bar main hoop floor bolts. This does a couple things - it keeps stuff put on the floor between the fronts seats from rolling to the back and the holes in the bar of the hi-lift make great points to attach bungee cords to secure things in the back.

Yeah had mine there for two years before it made it to the truck!

That’s really the safest place for them considering how many people have gotten hurt from not using them properly. I have mine bolted to the tire carrier, but have rarely used it. A scissor or bottle jack is usually simpler to use.

Yeah, common sense and an abundance of caution have kept more than one person alive and healthy while using one. But they sure are handy when used properly.
Any time I see one used for maintenance in a driveway (and without jackstands!) I cringe, politely tell them what I think, then call the safety police and tell their mom's on them!
Or just let them enter to win the Darwin Award for their neighborhood.

I'm sure it's been done successfully many times (I know of many who have survived), but it's been done not-so-successfully as well. As one of their sales reps for several years, I spent most of my time trying to educate and admonish to be safe and sensible in their use.
To anyone what would listen anyway.:p
