Flowmasters are loud aren't they?
I don't feel the need to grow even more deaf than I already am and don't feel I need to announce my presence everywhere I go.

Dynomax?

Summit Turbos? Nice price, but decent? How loud?

;D ;D ;D Turbos arnt to loud but it will depend on the motor a stock motor they wont be much more than a stock muffler. But on a well built motor they will sound off some. I run them and have no complaint's. 351W 4V headers very nice sound good luck with your choice.:p :p :p Bill  %) :p

I went with Flow Master SUV 50 series and love them! Great flow and mellow tone. You can go to the flow master web site and lisen to each muffler sound

There are about 5 levels of flowmasters. The loud single chamber race, the not as loud 40 series. I have the 70 series and it is quiet enough to hear the tires and wind leaks.

The engine is another factor. Built engines tend to be louder. cat(s) will make the same combination quieter as well. Full length is quieter then in front of the tires.

So a quiet system will be a stock engine through manifolds, cats, running full length out the back. For that, you don't need that much muffler.

I'm running Flowmaster 50 Series Delta flow mufflers with an H-pipe and it's pretty loud....I was thinking they were 40 series until I got the number off them and referenced it in their catalog...I was surprised to see they were the 50 series Delta's....I didn't think the 50's were this loud...

I have magnaflow mufflers. They have a nice tone and aren't too loud when idling or cruising, but when you put your foot into it they will set off car alarms. If you go easy on the skinny pedal they are reasonably quiet. The problem with some setups is that they are loud all the time. When you get older the constant noise just gets annoying.

I've got summit turbos too...2.5 inch behind a 351W ,they sound good ...I had 2.5 inch dynomax's on my other bronco they were alittle louder but not too bad...they just cost more, thats what sold me on the summits..I'm cheap:cool:

Yup, I had dual spintechs on mine for awhile. A bit loud for me. Changed to a single exhaust with one of the spintechs, nice. Sounds off some with your foot in it, and very mellow cruisin.

Amen (and I'm not that old yet ;D ) - part of the reason I'm getting rid of my Hooker Aero chambers - tired of having to shout over the exhaust and having my ears ringing by the time I get to work or the trail . Another reason for quieting my beast down is we are having a hard enough time keeping trails open; loud 4x's don't help the matter. Looking at an Ultra Flow for mine possibly with a car-chemistry or Dynatech inserts if the Ultraflow is still too loud.

Another factor to consider is the size of your pipes.I went with 2.5 into dual 3 chambered Flows with a H-pipe.....in hindsight I should have gone with 2.25" pipes.

I plan to redo the exhaust system someday.

I just put a pair of 50s series SS Flowmasters (2.5 inch in/out)on mine. They are pretty quiet during normal driving and on the highway. But once you kick the skinny they growl like hell. I am also running long tube L&L Ultraflow headers, though too. My wife was hoping it was going to be "quieter" than before; I took her for a drive and she realized it actually was quieter, then I stomped the peddle. heheheheheheheheeeaaaaaahhh

mufflers is the only thing I need to finish my Bronco. I went to advance auto the other day and I was looking at some nice chrome ricer mufflers :-[ . They were $69 each and straight through. They did look kinda neat though. I wonder if I'd sound like two ricers coming down the street if I bought them ? ;D I'm serious :)

I'm running a Magnaflow 3". Sound is very nice. Had 2 generic round turbos and the darn thing sounded like a trash truck coming down the street. Whenever I hit the loud pedal she would really roar. Got tired of not being able to hear myself think so went with single 3.

I am using a single SpinTech I like it pretty well, it's loud when you get on it, not too loud when running down the road . . . It does not have the resonance that the Flows have (and I dont like)
The cool thing about the spintechs is that they are very stout - like 16 gauge - and you will not be denting it. Also its pretty thin so I was able to install it in a vertical position right beside the T/Case output - its all above the frame that way. You can see it pretty well here:

I like the magnaflows. I have a flowmaster on my truck, and like the sound of the magnaflow better; unless I want to set of car alarms.

You might even be twice as fast....... and make sure you put some 5" diameter chromies on the tips.

I like the spintech. We ran a 2 2" in and 1 3" out on the racer and it worked great. We will use it again this year. The set-up looks very much like sgtrocks picture above. It is a very well built unit and quiet when crusing....I'm told :) Its not that load when you are peddle to the metal either.
