So I have started wiring up the Mustang engine, but unfortunately the info in fordfuelinjection.com and other places isn't as helpful as I thought. Has anybody done this swap by using the harness right out of the mustang? I had them pull the harness when I bought then engine... and am having trouble with where to power the EEC as well as where to power the MAF/02 sensors?

I've done one using a stock Mustang harness and one using the harness from a 90 Crown Vic. For both I used the Probst EFI book which includes diagrams for both vehicles in addition to a wealth of information on the EFI system itself.

Alright, so I have gotten the engine to run... and it runs good, but I had to wire it incorrectly.

With the EFI relay wired to the tan and green wire off of the test plug, the pump would not work correctly. After grounding the wire you ground to run a self test, the pump would work correctly and then engine would run fine.

Unfortunately I can not get the computer to run a self test and a code puller to grab any codes.

Someone that has done the swap with the mustang harness, could you tell me exactly where you tapped in your wires for the fuel pump and service engine soon light?

I have tried both ways listed on fordfuelinjection, but not flashing or code pulling.

OK, here goes.... I did this also using the stock stang harness. I ran into some problems myself, I had a harness that actually had some colors matching 88-90, and some colors matched 91-93(years might not be exact), so I had to trace my wires back to the computer to verify the actual wire color and ensure where it went or was supposed to go...and it still runs great... I still need to do the O2 sensor set up so it will run better on the highway, but it runs perfect for trail use with only 12 wires or so... I am not running the EEC, O2's etc... I used the Haynes manual with the info I found online to do my swap.

I would suggest buying the factory wiring diagram. They are very helpfull. The Probst is very good too. The diagram below is from that book for a '88-'91 Stang. Maybe it will help. I would put a relay for powering the EEC. The schematic also shows VPWR going to the MAF from the same relay. I didn't get the relay block when I got my engine, so I went to a You Pull It yard and grabbed one off a Lincoln and will be using it when I finish my wiring. Good luck.

I have the diagram. The problem is that when the relay is hooked onto the tan/green wire by the test plug(which is supposedly Pin 22)... and there is a wire tied into the power wire going to the fuel pump that is tied into Pin 19 by the green plug next to the EEC... then the fuel pump doesn't work right.

Can anybody tell me exactly where they spliced in and what wires they spliced into when installing the fuel pump relay? Or even better, the wiring schematic for the service engine soon light?

I have a chiltons, and the way they have it doesn't not work for me.
