Ok guys, what am I doing wrong ? Bought a new speedometer cable from Dennis Carpenter and it came in today. Ran the new cable from cluster to underneath to gear area. My question is : When I go to put the gear on the end of the cable the cable pushes back into the outer sheathe part and will not stay out far enough to attach to the gear head. How do I keep the cable to stay out for the gear to attach on the end ? Does this make since to yawl ? Thanks, Keith

It's been forever since I dealt with the speedocable gear but for some reason I'm thinking I did the t-case side first then hooked up the top.

I got a cable from JBG a few months ago and had the same problem. It would engage speedometer correctly but the gear wouldn't slide all the way on. The inner cable was about 3/8ths of an inch too long. Called JBG and told them the issue and they said they hadn't heard of that but sent a new cable after confirming the length over the phone. The replacement fit perfect. Ken
