I wonder if Ford is watching this forum and the responses. It's mainly negative which I would think would be concerning to Ford. I would think there is a larger market for IFS equipped vehicles though. They ride better, etc. As many have stated, most Jeep owners, even the ones with modified rigs don't get off the pavement very often. I'm sure Ford weighed their target market and decided to build the bronco to appeal to the larger buying group.

I'm more about the authentic/retro looks that ability. If I want to take something on trails it sure as hell won't be a $35,000+ SUV. I'll go buy a side by side or ATV that can actually do something and take a beating without breaking and getting dents/scratches!

Ford is targeting the Overlander crowd it appears. That's fine as they will sell more with a combo that appeals to them and the street only crowd (along with something else that has a removable top). Kind of fine with me since if they made a V-8/SFA jeep killer, it would probably be 70 grand anyway.

The only vehicle made today (sold in US anyway) that you can get away with hard core crawling without destroying a brand new vehicle is a Wrangler. 60" wide body, completely removable flares (fenders), narrowed front end, frame that extends past bodywork to easily mount winch and bumpers, flat bodywork that entire side and rear are relatively easy to make armor for.
Not going to get most of that in a new bronco.

Here's a thought. How many jeep owners would prefer an ifs over straight axle front? I'm guessing very very few. Yeah, I'm sure owners would like the better ride, but would they be willing to buy it thinking cruising around on 31s is super cool, tough and capable? I know several jeep owners and not a single one of them would have bought a wrangler if it came with IFS.

You think the absolutely huge increase in $50-$100k rock crawling wranglers over the last several years would have occurred if wrangler were ifs? An entirely new industry now exists in large part due to the wrangler and its success. If you don't have the die-hard guys legitimizing the brand - then the Starbucks crowd are less likely to think its cool.

Ford, go ahead and do your suv with ifs great ride, traction control, selectable rear elocker that no-one knows when to use, panoramic sunroofs, fancy gadgets etc but don't call it a Bronco.

Bronco means cool looks, great ergonomics, tuff, reliable, utilitarian, powerful and as capable as or more capable than anything else out there. Bronco used to be the leader of the pack in offroad function and reliability. Why settle for less?

It would be really funny if all of these proto types we are seeing are just bait and the real bronco has the looks and solid axles everybody is asking about.

I doubt that is the case, but it would be funny

Well that's all around disappointing. All that trash hanging below the axles. %)

A 35" tire is pretty much a requirement. Good luck with that. I hope this is the baby bronco.

Aside from all the other comments add to them that the exhaust outlet and muffler are in a very vulnerable spot!

If it's just a grocery getter my wife will love it.
We will have one.

Lots of shit talking going on here.
But I doubt any of you were selling your eb to buy a new Bronco so cool your heels, lol.

If it turns out that Ford is tricking us with this tease and the real Bronco will be very capable (even if it has IFS) then I will love it and buy one.

So either way, one will end up in my driveway.

I bet a lot of you are thinking the same thing.

If the Bronco is a mall crawler then I believe a lot of our wives and daughters will have one.

I’m going to probably hurt some feelings, I see lots of trash talk and bench wheeling. Proof will be in the pudding. Let’s get some out there and put them through the paces, just like the Toyota stuff, bet it works better than anyone will be willing to admit.

I think we have a legit reason to shit talk this thing if that spy shot is a legitimate example of the new bronco. Ford is the one that got everyone hyped up about the bronco being a direct competitor for the wrangler. When that declaration was made it gave us hope that our beloved little Bronco would return as a new badass version of the original.

If they surprise us with a kick ass 4x4 that'll be great and we can all eat crow. Until then I hope they read what's been posted on 4x4 sites.
Let the shit talk continue.

Same suspension/chassis design as a 4runner but less capable.
And people said I was crazy when I said the bronco 2 was coming back.

Yup, I'm right with you.
My wife can't wait till they open up ordering. I'll accessorize it as needed. Everything I own is a pavement pounder. As long as it can get over a speed bump then it will work for us.

At no point did Ford every say they were building a classic Bronco.
