Bronco R at some point tore off the OEM trans cooler lines and required a new trans.

Their recent post announced that Ford is now a BIG sponsor of King of the Hammers. I don't think they'd make this investment if the new Bronco is going to be a soccer mom SUV.
...

If they actually put some kind of Bronco in the race, maybe, but that isn't likely to be the case.

Ford just wants people to associate the name with off road capability and give the impression that it was there, when it wasn't.

You'll notice that their promotional material says Bronco was testing in Johnson Valley, not that it was actually testing on the Hammers trails. They just want to let you assume something about it that isn't true. There are plenty of dirt roads in JV that a golf cart could test on. People drag 5th wheel campers in there, are they 'testing' them in "Johnson Valley, the home of King of the Hammers" just like Bronco?

False impressions can be worth plenty of advertising dollars.

What you say may be true, but that does not invalidate my point. Granted, Bronco R is not the production new Bronco. What I was saying is that Ford's sponsorship of KOH is a good indication that the new Bronco will be aimed at off-road enthusiasts (at least a version of the new Bronco) and will likely be a real competitor for Wrangler. All you nay-sayers are expecting a run of the mill SUV like the POS that Chevy is calling the new Blazer. I don't think Ford would be investing in KOH if this was the case. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Ford missed a huge opportunity during the Super Bowl. They could have created a teaser commercial announcing the arrival of the 2020/2021 Bronco.

I think Porsche, GM with the Hummer and the Jeep Gladiator ad (with Bill Murray) were excellent.

You musta missed it. There was an ad where Sam Elliot's Bronco wouldn't join in the silly dance competition.

troller sure seems to have solid front axle. Hmmmm, funny if Ford has been trolling us with a fake spy truck.

Who's watching KOH?

Ford and Bronco are getting plugged a lot. "Ford Short Course" "Ford Bronco Arch"
"Ford Bronco Leader Board"

This is why they they didn't bother with the Super Bowl. KOH is a much better audience to promote the new Bronco.

There is another article that has more detail. The truck was running and driving fine but they had issues with an aftermarket cooling fan; the final portion of the race was one where it would be very difficult to recover the vehicle or perform any needed field repairs should something go wrong with it so they decided to scrap it.

Am I correct on that The only other vehicle in that class was built by a small independent shop and didn’t have any problems and finished the race ?
