New Carter Electric Fuel Pump...Mounting?

I have picked up a lot of helpful info on here and have purchased a Carter 4070 electric fuel pump based on information read on this site. I also am putting on the Holley pressure switch. My question is where to mount. I realize the closer to the tank the better....but..I still plan to run both of my tanks and have the new electric tank switch to istall. Since I will have to mount the pump between the tank switch and the engine would I be just as well to mount it low in the engine compartment? Is anyone else running theirs under the hood?

I used to run the Carter pump with both tanks. I mounted it just aft of the aux tank on the inside of the driver side frame rail. All you do for the plumbing is to reroute the lines. Leave the tank valve where it is and just run the output of it to the pump and then the pump output to the engine. The pump doesn't have to be mounted physicaly between tank and engine as long as it is functionally. Also, about mounting it in the engine compartment, my advice would be to keep it as far away from heat sources as possilbe. So I believe under the hood is not a great choice.

Hope this helps.

I have succesfully run a carter pump in the 3 following locations.

1) behind the drivers side headlight where the washer bottle should be at.
2) On the fireswall in front of the drivers fresh air inlet
3) The current location under the floor, between the framerails, mounted to the body, near the park brake cables sucking from the selector valve.

Thanks for the input guys.

Behind the drivers side headlight where the windshield washer tank is supposed to be is where I was wanting to put it. I think I will try that spot and see how it works out.

Thanks again
