Heres the deal...I searched the Threads for "death wobble" and they all suggest the same thing replace bushings, tie rods, bearings etc etc etc.. I just replaced the entire front end tire to tire including the front axle, diff, bearings, bushings, tie rods, draglink etc all new. Before my front end would start wobbling at 30 mph to 45 mph. The wobble isnt as bad now but it still wobbles starting at 50-50 mph. Please help thx, Rob

did you change the track bar bushings?

what tires are u running are they balanced?

get someone to turn the wheel back and forth while you watch the frontend for movement.

this is what i always do.

Are the wheels visibly wobbling or is it just felt in the steering wheel ? It could be you have a tire issue. Have you checked the steering box for excessive play ? Raise the front end off the ground and check for play or loose components. Just a few suggestions, I'm sure others will chime in.

Just fixed mine after a bout of the death wobbles (scarry PITA). It turned out to be the drop track bar bracket (egged out holes). I went w/ a track bar riser from wildhorses and the problem is gone. What a f'n relief! Good luck

Is the steering box secured properly to the frame? Is the frame tore or smashed in at the steering box? Just a couple more ideas.

I had it happen once from the rear radius arm bushings when I tried the soft rubber offset ones. Any time I have had that happen it was not at any particular speed but after hitting a bump, hole or something else that jars the from wheels above 20 mph. I would have to slow down to near stop to get it to quit. Is that what is happening to you CRUZIN66? Do you have to almost stop to make it go away?

Death wobble is a complicated thing..I've studied the dynamics of it in depth. The fundamantal dynamic repsonse and and the list of things that contribute to it is long and complicated. Most of the potential contributing factors have been pointed out well in this thread already.

But to rain on yr parade, here's an additional bit of info from someone (Me) who has built a lot of full-size Fords in addition to my EBs: I've had at least two that literally nothing could cure except for tires. And I do not mean replacing worn or out of balance tires..I mean replacing new ones with different new ones was ultimately what eliminated death wobble on two of my rigs that were practially 100% new through and through as far as all suspension and steering. My '69, in particular, was shod with three completely different sets and types of tires before I found a set that killed the problem. Now I am talking about 38-inch plus diameter tires...and the larger the tire the harder it is to cure the problem. It is very frustrating and hard to cure sometimes..even when you think you know 'all about' the phenomenon and its causes.
