ordered 25 lug nuts, 1" socket at 1/2-20, from Jegs, I am going to stop on the way home and return one caliper (core) and get the 2 front brake tubes. I plan to measure the rear drive shaft, center of TC yoke to center of axle yoke and have the local drive-shaft shop quote me shortening it as well as replacing the u-joints and slip yoke. if is is more than 200 dlls, then I am buying one from Toms, it is only 215 dlls plus shipping, assuming that my size is one they carry, e-mailed them and will find out if they charge more for odd sizes.

:) Pat, I am dying to get back into it, a few things got in the way and I will admit I got a little burned out. the creative fluids where being used up at work, since I changed Jobs, i jumped boat before it sunk!
then winter got here, a lot of honey doos jumped at me and finally she made me join a Gym to work on my health, she must want me to last her a long time or something. I have not lost an ounce in 3 months, but my 38" jeans are fitting again and my energy is way up again, I was barely fitting into 40"s. also My brother decided to EFI his 73 with the 351W and I get to redo his wire harness and all wires in the engine bay pretty much.

any way hows yours going? ;D

I am hoping to text drive mine by memorial weekend, I want to see how the tranny feels and how the 33's (currently on it, pretty worn, about 1/4 life left, but very aged) feel with the cobra 5.0, 4rw'd Ado and 4.10 gears. I will decide weather stay at 33 or go with 35's.

got the 2 front axe brake tubes this morning, they had the right length at Orileys, just gotta get the hoses for the calipers and install them, hopefully Saturday, weather holding.

still need to measure the rear drive shaft, got home and forgot, some Buffalo tenders where being made by my 17 year old son and made me forget, afterwards went to the gym and did 1 hour and 40 minutes on the elliptical watching discovery, motorcycle building show and moon shine show.... pretty entertaining.

measured the rear driveshaft, cl to cl and it came at 31", I need to have mine cut and balanced, I checked the u-joints and they are solid, I plan to replace them any way because they are critical items and are only 15 dlls each for forged Autozone Duralast gold, I figure $50 is good insurance, specially since I plan to tow a small trailer to the trails.

I called a shop and they want $300 dlls to cut balance replace u-joints and replace spline section, since I feel about a 1/16" of play, I keep thinking this is normal, teh shaft guy said to just run thick grease.

Tom's has a stock rebuilt one for $189, and a new one for about $260, only wish they where the right length, this is part of the cost of the AOD swap and the 205, I feel I am paying for what I saved on the adapter kit.

I am going to stop by a second shaft shop on the way home to see what he will charge me to just cut and balance and get a second opinion the spline play.

Tomorrow I shall work on the brakes, linkages, TC shifter, and look at my brothers EFI swap to plan for next weekend's Bronco Time, it will be Friday, sat and Sunday, I want to finish his EFI to have him drive his beast. I need him to swap wheels to give me mine to look for tires.;D

just got off the phone with Troy of Tom Woods custom drive-shafts and for $304 I can have a new drive shaft with the upgraded extended life splines (XC) including shipping.

I still want to stop by the local guy and see if I can save a few dollars by getting one he has or having mine cut and balanced. keep you posted.

GLAD TO BE BACK!
I just ordered the Tom woods rear shaft, $304 sounds good, the local guys wanted that to rebuild my old one with normal parts, I get the better spline and u-joints.

I really did not like the last one I spoke to, he bad mouthed Tom's and gave me the sales call crap, I simply asked how much for shortening and balancing, and he started with year, model, lift.... once He knew it was my toy he charged accordingly. Sorry but Troy at Tom's no BS approach is what i like.

Hope to get it next Wednesday and install it.

Pat, I really wanted new u-joints and needed the new splines, I figure with shipping an new everything $304 is the best I can do. 2 local shops here in San Diego quoted me $300 and $320 to rebuild my old shaft. I could have tried Tijuana, but rather not learn that they balanced it wrong.
God to know that you got a deal. I will probably end up paying the 300 again for teh front one, that one needs to be longer!

I really get nervous when they start with the, what year is it, what model is it.... you know they want to rape YA, LOL all I was asking for them to do is cut, weld, balance!

anyway tomorrow is brakes time, I will take pics and update the thread!

Where did you get the adapters to the mustang proportion valve? Do you know the sizes?

I need to either get ones that go into the master cylinder or to the prop valve like you did. I think you are supposed to use the bronco prop valve if you are running drum brakes on the rear and the mustang prop valve is used when you have disc front and rear. Not sure on that though.

I am running the chebby front disc conversion and exploder rear discs, that is why I decided to get the mustang's PV, I have a 2001 gt and figure it is as close as I can get w/o a variable PV. the adapters I got at the local AUtoZone $1.49 each brass, the way I got them was I had the guy at the bone yard cut after the Prop valve, bought the HB/MC/PC together and as many hoses as I could get. unscrewed the cut piece of brake line past the PV and cut the EB's brake line, mine had same size front and back, 3/16" sae I believe, and took them in. They found it for me!:cool::cool::cool:

just ordered some Moser Engineering 3" studs for my rear, since I will run the over-sized lug nuts and aluminum wheels I figure I might have 1" of threads showing buy no big deal. $29 from Jeggs. also I plan to hit Harbor freight to get a vacuum bleeder for the brakes. I want to go thru all the tube joints one more time to make sure they are all tight and call it done on the brakes!
