I am new to the site as well as new to Broncos. I've wanted one for years- but have recently upped my search. I have found a '73 in good shape. Original engine has just under 14k miles. Some rust spots (mostly in the hardtop) but over all in good shape. I have seen Broncos listed anywhere between $150k to $20k. This seller is asking $30k. I'd like to offer less- considering it didn't crank today when I went to test drive it. The sells said the carburetor was troublesome- and a few small things (speedometer, horn, etc) didn't work. Any advice would be great. If I pursue this one- I'll get a mechanic to come take a look at it with me.

Thanks!

That diamond plate dash just dont fit that trucks image to me either.

No way at $30k. And it would not even start, everything better be squared away and working well for $30k. Decent looking Bronco, but that dash is horrible, and that right there is a pretty intensive replacement if you can't live with a diamond plate dash.

Just be careful.... The odometer may say 14K but it has more than that. 30K is a lot of bills for anything less than 100%......

Over spray on the fresh air vents under the hood. Engine bay not painted.....D side rockets looks rusted out and painted over. Looks like the D side finder down low near the front finder brace wasn't painted. Dash is hacked

100% there are hidden issues.

30K not even close.

There are so many things wrong with that Bronco ! Gotta love the single piece of belt line trim on the tailgate & nowhere else ...%) 14K miles .... yeah right ... like 40 years ago . Even in todays stupid market $15-$20K is pushing it . Advise ... RUN !

Thank to all of you for your quick replies. Being new to this I need as much input as possible. It had to be too good to be true- seeing as how I found it right outside my neighborhood less than a week after I started looking. There aren't that many down here in South Carolina it seems- so I jumped on it.
Thanks again.

that "original" mileage seems suspect to me and that diamond plate dash is ugly (IMHO)

Welcome! As others have stated, no way $30k on that one.

-Be patient
-Seriously consider buying from a member here
-Good that you wanted to take your mechanic, but make sure your mechanic "knows" broncos, not just the mechanical aspects, but body, rust areas, things that just don't belong, etc.
-Be wary of diamond plate, overspray and bed liner unless you're buying a project.
-Have somebody that knows broncos go look at it for you if it's not local. Members here on the forum do that frequently for others.

Branch out. If you're willing to spend that much on a bronco don't be afraid to ship one. If you find the right deal in another state it's probably 6-800 to ship it. You can usually find someone on here to check it out before you make the purchase.

I have seen some better looking ones for sale on here at a cheaper price. Just my 02. I cost me $800.00 to ship mine from CA to TX.

Formally Columbia- now Myrtle Beach. I've just tried to look close by- SC, NC, GA, TN...
Guess I'm just figuring out *WHERE* to look. I don't want a "project"- I want something to drive around town and load my dog up and go to the beach.

I'm in Columbia so we are a lil late meeting up. Be careful buying a bronco out of state as SC DMV may or may not want to physically see the VIN on the frame and not the temp tag on the glovebox door. I had that problem a few years back. I'm helping a fella out of Florence find an early bronco but I keep ridiculing all the Broncos he asks my opinion on. People outside of Classic Broncos website think they are sitting on gold. EBay doesn't help bc people are buying on pictures and are disappointed when they get their lipstick on a pig bronco. A good $30k bronco should have a good build sheet with lots of pics. Be smart and read up on these Broncos. A $10k bronco can turn into a $30k bronco quickly. If you don't know what to look for you can be in real trouble. There several bronco owners in Charleston area. BlazinChuck and others down there are good people. If you find one here in Cola are let me know and I'll chk it out. Good guys up in Greenwood, Greenville and Charlotte too! We can all try and help out if possible.

I chkd on CL just now to see what close to us and there are a couple. I sent emails to them as to where the bronco is located and which state the titles are registered in. I personally think they are scams but time will tell. CL is good for parts in some cases but u need to be careful when the seller starts asking for deposits or money through mail. Don't do it. If I hear anything I'll PM you. Both Broncos I sent emails too are $13k or less which means they probably don't run.
