ok so my bronco has been sitting for a few months. i got it started the other day seemed to run ok then took it down the road and it died and wouldn't start back. I found out that the fuel pump was't working well got that fixed and it still won't start. I am getting fuel and spark. while cranking it will hit like it want's to fire up then just cranking again. it is a 302 93ish efi. on a weird note the fuel pumps just seem to keep running and not shutting off now?:? i have not tried to pull any codes yet. btw i am pretty much efi stupid%)

How do you know you are getting ( enough) fuel? Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? what injection system do you have?

An engine is an engine. Still needs air, fuel (at something close to the right ratio) and spark (at something close to the right time).

How do you know you've got fuel? Just because there is pressure in the fuel rails doesn't mean the injectors are firing. Spray some starting fluid in the air filter.

Hook up a timing light to #1 spark plug, and see if it fires, and fires at the right time.

If you sprayed starting fluid and it didn't kick any? That has me wondering about spark?

me too but i checked the coil and getting at least 12v so that has me wondering if the injectors are working, but i don't think all of them would quit at the same time. I'll pull a plug wire tonight and see if i am getting spark from the distributor to plugs
confused skiddy?:?

Hate to ask a really dumb question, but you say your fuel pump keeps running now. That's a sign of simply running out of fuel. Got Fuel? ;D

12V to the coil doesn't mean anything. The coil could be completely burnt up inside and it'll still have 12V to the pos terminal.

My windshield leaked on my computer last year and the symptoms were the same as yours. Put my spare computer in and it fired right up.
Put the wet computer in the oven on anout 140 d f for about 1-2 hours, put it back in and all is good.

you know you may have a good point because where they ran the wires and the computer is right under the dash by the vent hole in the hood. and my trail cover doesn't cover that part.

no i will get one from my brother, and i hope your not thinking timing chain:cry:
No, I wasn't specifically. It's just that using a timing light will answer a bunch of questions about spark, including that one.

ok i think i got if figured out but have a question. there were two wires that looked like they pulled out of the computer, borrowed another computer and it fired right up. Hooked up the two wires and wouldn't start with either computer. i am thinking they were not supposed to be hooked up. fuel pump isn't getting power now either?:?
