I think you need to share the scope of your project, as in what is it you want to do/what the Bronco needs. There might be people to point you at or Vendors/Shops you can use. I am in the South Bay.
Factory big body starter (has a relay on the fender) or the small PM type starter. (That one has a solenoid on it) And may still have starter relay on the fender?
Yes both faily new … second lasted 2 days .. there was a high spin metallic noise from around the flywheel after start up .. after which truck wouldn’t start again, simpl;y “click”and nada no start ….. yeah has relay on the fender behind battery …. Bronco is 74 , 302 manual … trying to attach pics of set up

The starter relay on the fender would not be responsible for breaking or burning out a starter.
By any chance are these modern style PMGR (mini) starters with the piggyback solenoid? If so are you sure you have it wired correctly up at the relay?
That whining sound you heard when the engine was running could’ve been the starter running on it if it was wired incorrectly.
I’m thinking that if you had the wrong starter it wouldn’t even have cranked the engine the first time, so you’re probably good there with the correct manual transmission starter.
But an automatic starter has a different length gear reach and snout depth so are they not compatible with a manual transmission and vice versa.
