I think the moral of this mess is, careful what you wish for.
Some participants pointed fingers and said "but but he's got X and those are X!!" In turn NORRA was forced to define the rules and now everything is scrambled up. The fact that the 26 has the abillity to stay in pioneer just supports what we have been saying all along. Stock suspension, 302 based carbed motor, D44, 9" non-floating, stock bumps, D20 and a C4. If we can change our rear shocks to meet the rules we are going to do it... again to prove a point. They don't make us faster. They are longer but don't give more travel. It sucks that the rules have been changed and now the Broncos are all spread out but again I say this... you guys did this.
BTW for those that think we have enough influence to get rules changed in our favor... I'm flattered but it isn't the case. Norra doesn't give a rat's ass where we race nor does our sponsors.
Moving forward I propose a Bronco Driver's gentlemen's side wager... forget classes, just go for broke OA times. Let's get a pool going and have cash awards by day/OA race times and maybe even stage times? We've always been open to racing whatever you guys bring down. What do you say? A race within a race?

Boyd -- your point about "OA times" should be one of the core points of the discussion.

The years I raced NASA TT, at Road America, Laguna Seca or whereever, we had Porsches, corvettes, mustangs, NA miata's, hell even a guy with a honda civic, same course all at the same time and it was just run what you brung door to door competition, with all of us on course see whom was able to set the best times and most consistently, its fun to be the only Flyin Miata Turbo and then bullshit with the corvettes you stick with or pull away from on the straights during a race. I built what I wanted for that racing environment and enjoyed the car all year long outside the track. Spec Miata is neat and relatively inexpensive but I wanted more power (TT-U for unlimited) and for those that want "more" in their bronco (power or travel or whatever) it shouldn't matter the classing, its the experience.

That's the core reason why with NORRA I'm so surprised many are obsessed with Pioneer. You guys could suggest to do like the Manx guys do and just have them create an Evolution Bronco class like the Evolution Manx guys have.

Hopefully guys are enjoying your rigs more than just the week we are in Baja so build what you want to "show and shine" or trail ride or King of Hammers or whatever and then the fun will be the comraderie and bullshitting each day between all the bronco's regardless of shock length or wheel size or BB vs SmallBlock.....again unless you really enjoy the "historic period correct" aspect......creating a "Bronco Evolution Class" might be neat especially if Ford would bring the bRonco prototype.....

"Evolution Bronco"....something to think about as a new race class? When I raced my Manx in 2018 we had another Air Cooled VW guy that chose to run in Evolution Manx just so he could share the same class.

The real obsession about Pioneer is the fact it’s the closest thing inNORRA to an entry level class for “early burrows”.
Believe me we all track OA times and by that measure did well this year at the MK1. No reason to see that change in the future. No need to start a whole new class. If we want a race in a race it’s easy to do. Or we can just officially compare OA times and let it go at that.
