Hi all.

I have a 71 bronco that I have been building from the ground up right now its a rolling chassis with np435 im getting ready to install the body and I'm curious how much body lift I should go with I dont want to have a huge hole in the body but also dont want to have do a lot of modifying to acount for the lift. Any input would be awesome! If anyone has pictures of their setup that would be very helpful.

thanks!

I didn't put mine in, but it has np435 without the body lift. They cut a big patch panel and then screwed it in over the trans. Looks fine IMO. The WH integrated 1" body mount with lift is worth doing.

71' and np435 here. 3.5" SL and no body lift. Run 33" a/t most of time, 36" swampers for the rocks.

Will see if I can dig up some pics. Took lots of pics of everyone else's at OCBR and none of mine :)

I only went 1", plenty of room to stick the 435 in. Still have to mod the tunnel - clutch rod lengthened some and lengthen MC brake lines (to be on the safe side and not difficult to do) cranking and yanking on those particular pieces of hydraulics in order to make a fit demonstrate a lack of good decision making skills. Steering, I upgraded to a slip shaft from wildhorses little longer 2 u-joints. My rag joint was shot anyway. Hardest part was breaking loose the old body bolts and getting the mounts out - Petrified and fused come to mind.

Have fun

Here's a few pics of when I was installing mine. I didn't want to cut out the entire tunnel and brace so I installed a 2 inch body lift. Engine and transmission went in together.

I would say it can be done with a 1" but 2"is suggested as a bigger motor, trans and other modification that may be done down the line are MUCH MUCH MUCH easier with a 2" body lift.

So with 1" body lift what modifications would need to be done? Ive been getting alot of mixed messages. Some say fan shroud clutch linkage and steering. Some say they got away without doing any of that some say some combo of those. Is it one of thoses things I wont know until I get in there?

You'll have to modify the tunnel - 1" is to short clear, well it will just leaves a big hole. Means cutting the sheet metal and a cross brace adding some kind of cover homemade or purchased. Requires either bending the shifter or installing something like a gearbanger. As for the other stuff if your determined to build with out spending much everything will deform and still be usable. Forgot full fan shroud I went dual electrics on mine eliminated the mechanical

.. Mine has 1 inch on top of the stock bushing.. Reason for that I couldn't get 2 OF THE FACTORY ONES OUT So I just put them back in & put my new 1 inches on top of them...
... Later when I did the Diesel install I have 3 inch chassis.

Bumping an old thread. I plan to install an NP435 in my '69. Anyone have any pictures? I will either do no body lift and modify the tunnel or 1" body lift and do less hacking. My tunnel isn't pristine, so I won't lose any sleep if I modify it.

Thanks!

I ran with no body lift for 20 years ...requires large cut for trans clearence and for ease of R&R need to pull trans back 4-5 inches before you can start to lower then to get the shift tower to clear tunnel area ....

Now I;ve replaced floor center section and added a 1 inch body lift..you have nice added clearence BUT you will still have to do a fair amount of cutting if not the same amount for if any future trans R&R ....So mines cut the same as before ,less the 3 speed floor shifter cut that was also there ,, and made a rather stout removable trans tunnel cover..I'll post pics...

This probably does not help a lot because mine was lifted for a 351 engine clearance and I also have a Klune V so the floor was cut and leveled but there is a ton of room with that trans so I don't see why not.

I have a 1" WH body lift and built a tunnel cover similar to the one EBP72 has/made. It works great although mine is back apart for other reasons.
