Just finished installing a WH 1" body lift. I'm hoping to get the NV3550 installed sometime tomorrow. What specific type of fluid do I need to put into this transmission and how much?

Contact you local Jeep dealership. Tell them you have a tranny out of a 2000-2004 Wrangler and they should give you the specs. It would be best to buy the OEM tranny fluid. I'm sure it will be a little more expensive than at your NAPA, but then you know for sure that it is compatible with your seals and also you don't change your tranny fluid that often so it shouldn't break the bank.

ONLY USE THE CHRYSLER/JEEP SPECIFIED TRANNY OIL...ITS NV3500/3550 SERIES TRANSMISSION OIL. IT IS NOT CHEAP, if I remember correctly it only takes two quarts, buy 3...so $30-40 IS MUCH CHEAPER THAN A UNINSTALL AND REBUILD. All of the NV series trannys require special tranismission oils. I remember someone, I think on Bfix a couple of years ago, said they blew up their tranny; then asked what kind of oil others were using...they apparently didnt think it was important to listen to the warnings about only using the correct spec-ed oil...expensive mistake. Good luck....you will love the tranny.
