nv3550 to transfer case

recently purchased the nv3550 from toms and had it installed by a local transmission shop. very hard lesson learned by not researching more shops that could have done a better job and had better service as now i have a nice squeel from the starter whenever i crank up. I do however love the new transmission. back to the point, the problem is, they said there was nowhere to mount the shifter to take it in and out of 4 wheel drive? ( this was obviously not addressed in the instructions for the total, everything included, swap out kit) they said i would have to buy a twin stick shifter kit to make it work. does anyone have any knowledge of if this is correct or not or has installed a nv3550 and can give me heads up on how to remedy this situation.
thanks in advance any and all help

you have to swap a twin stick in if you have a J style transfercase. I am still looking at what is needed on the T style. but im almost sure you may need to, all the swaps ive seen have them.

On my NV3550 with a T shift T case, I cut down a J shift lever and welded it to my T shift bracket. I wheeled Tweety for two weekends and did not have a shifter problem. If you need more specific pics shoot me a PM.

From what I've heard, even the twin sticks from most vendors won't work on a "J" transfer case/NV3550 without modification. JB Fab twin sticks is the exception. They'll make a special set that will work. Wild Horses is said to be trying to engineer a set too.

I have the WH twin stick on my NV3550 swap with J shift and it works just fine. I did have to bend the sticks a hair to clear the bracket that mounts the sticks to the tranny though. Not a huge deal though.
