NV3550 Transfer Case Clocking

Hi,

So I can't seem to get the clocking correct on my transfer case to NV3550. I figured out (the hard way) that the adapter ring only fits on the transmission one way , but now I apparently have it in the wrong set of three holes on the adapter to the transfer case.

Which one of the three holes from the AA adapter to the transfer case am I supposed to use? I read the other posts and articles here and used the ones suggested but it isn't fitting right.

I got my twin sticks from JB Fab tonight and when I went to put them on they weren't even close. Needless to say much swearing took place in my garage tonight. Fortunately I realized that it would be best

Sounds like we have had similar experiences with this conversion. I just got mine running a few weeks ago but haven't had time to wrap it up completely. I think . . . I clocked it up as far as I could on the three adapter holes using the lower of the two holes on the trans. I figured out the hard way with some swearing that the adapter only fit in one rotation.

I also have the JB Twin Sticks, I was able to piece together a bushing and spacers at my local ACE Hardware to mount the pivot portion of the Twin Sticks, but that placed them too far to the driver's side. I plan to bend, cut, and redrill the twin sticks (over Christmas) but right now I just have it in 2WD HI so I can drive it again.

I'd be curious to see what you come up with if you get yours done first . . . oh yeah I forgot that I need to weld up some holes in my floor pan too. Oh well, here's to ongoing projects!

i ended up clocking my case in the center set of the 3 holes. a little working with JB's sticks and they're in. had to use ½" of spacers by the head of the bolt AA supplied, but jon can accomodate for that.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This is where the middle hole got me.
The AA bolt doesn't even come close to fitting through the shifters (bolt's too big).

Ok, Middle position must be the right one, the last hole is way low and looks wrong. And everybody TOLD me it was the middle, why can't I just listen? I guess I will need to speak to the man about my shifters. I'm tired, confused, and grumpy, my bronco is not my friend tonight.

Whoa,
The"J" type shifters will not work on the 3550 swap.
We are working on those right now. Let's talk, and we will get you set-up.
Sorry for any confusion, I would have made sure you had what you needed if I understood that you were doing a "J".
I am building a prototype next week I will build two.

They definately seem to take care of people. Not to Hi-Jack, but what about shifters for a ZF conversion with a J-Shift D20.

Well there I go making assumptions about things. What's that saying about assumptions....?

Thanks Jon, I will give you a call. Let me know if I can help in anyway, although sending you my chassis might be too difficult :)

We don't have jigs for that but I will have to check my notes to see what we have done in the past. It's been a while since we needed one of those....
