I'd still prefer it to not have been rolled during a fun-run in Baja. All these people say "it'll buff out", or "its what it was meant to do." Correct me if I'm wrong but it was built to race and win. Yes, if it crashes while trying to win, thats one thing. Kudos to them getting it to the finish line and not giving up - thats cool. And yes, it's great to have it not sitting away for no one to see in a private collection, but this is another extreme, and I've gotten to see Big Oly over the years probably 5-6 times and PJ drove it thru a rough field at pretty good speed at the Bronco 35th I think it was. So it's not like the last owner hid it away and never fired it up. Is it the batmobile or the Monkeemobile that everyone is citing as "stored away in a private collection?" Certainly it wasn't Big Oly. Hopefully it gets repaired back to how it was, but maybe some folks want to see a New Bronco body on it?

I really hated to see this. Excess money often times leads to stupidity, and IMO this is one of those cases. Especially the second roll. Should've cut their losses after the first roll and brought it home. I do appreciate it not being hidden away in a private collection, but what they did was just plain tragic. Sure it'll be fixed back up, but how may body panels can you replace and it still be considered the same truck that won all those races? A better option to honor its heritage would've been a nice trip down Baja the way the cb.com group did it a few years ago. Drew managed to take the historic Balloon Chaser ambulance down Baja and not destroy it. Big Oly should've been given the same respect. My $0.02.

Well, TZ and I did have a great trip down the penninsula in the Colt Stroppe Bronco at the same event. Lost a hood pin and got a pretty big rock ding on the grill from a Class 1 that passed us at speed. We didn't have a helicopter following us but I think we got some pics. I'll go update that thread now.

Don't forget the drone damage...

Hahah..oh yeah, While coming off the dirt in La Paz, before the 30 miles into the city, a drone came down right centered on us and got ready to shoot some film and we just smacked right into it and it dented the spoiler a bit...bounced off the hood bubble and we made further chicklets out of it with the right front wheel. The camera ended up between the seats.

I don’t mind that the truck is being used, I just wish the owner had the sense to take some driving lessons.

Yes, it did. Made its debut last week at Laguna Seca Raceway as part of the Motorsports Reunion. Photos courtesy of Randy Richardson and Eric Rumpf via FB.
