oil pressure moving with temp?

Had low oil pressure all summer, figured my bearings were gone. Now that its cooler out,,,,im gaining some pressure back. When i run on the highway, im at about 200degrees,,,,when i slow down or stop, im running about 160-170degrees at times, and i notice the oil pressure rise about 10 psi. Is this normal? could my low oil pressure have something to do with my motor running too hot?

Heat can cause oil pressure to drop, but pressure usually goes up with engine speed and drops a bit when idling around.
What about your fuel gauge, does it fluctuate with your speed?

;D ;D ;D 10 lbs wont hurt at idel but it should be 40 lbs at 2000 rpm or better at operating temp. good luck.;D ;D ;D Bill 8) %) :p

between 0-10 at idle depending on my temperature. It will be zero at about 190 or higher.....sometimes about 10 at idle..if im running cooler.....just concerned how more of how my temperature is fluctuating like that. neer did it in the summer....now that is been cooler...it seems like that, maybe its normal. I don't have a fan shroud was thinking that could be one reason. still only about 30psi at 2000rpm's.....just going to keep driving it until it dies i guess, unless its an easy fix. Still guess its my bearings.....motor runs fine other than that. little slapping when its starts up cold......piston slap perhaps?

It is normal for oil to thin out when it gets hot. this will cause you to see a decrease in oil press. If you stabilize your engine temp it will help. If your bottom end is a little worn, then going to the next higher oil viscosity will help too. If 40 weight doesnt help, you prolly should go through and rebuild the motor. Below 10 psi @ idle is not good.

Are you using original guages? I've seen the constant voltage regulator for the guages make them a little less than accurate.....usually causes all the guages, except ammeter, to read low. I'd try a manual oil pressure guage to determine if you actually have an oil pressure problem.

...loosen the belts, push 'em out with a screwdriver. Push on the side w/o register. If you get a tight one, cut off a small nail with a head big enough to stop at the oil hole, put it in the oil hole so the head doesn't stick out far enough to hit the block, spin the crank by HAND to turn the brg. out. New ones usually slide right in. Do NOT use above removal method to install. They'll go in by hand if they're started straight, put a little motor oil on 'em.
